Diss: "I'm not incredibly happy - or comfortable - getting my 'picture took'. So, along with the requisite photographic images of yours truly, you'll also find some of my favorite shots by my wife Joanie, a great photographer in her own right, particularly when it comes to landscapes. It's amazing how powerful a simple image can sometimes be, and she has a great eye for finding and capturing those moments..."

One day in the fall, Joanie and I just set out around my old home town in Maryland looking for some good backgrounds. I love cornfields...there's something really majestic about them...

This was quite a bed of leaves, up in the mountains of Thurmont, Maryland
This is not only one of my favorite pictures taken by Joanie, but one of my favorite pictures of all time. I love the stark beauty of it. Believe it or not, it was taken outside a movie theatre...

People sit in the snow and play guitar all the time. Don't they?
It's images like these that have inspired a lot of my songs over the years. Taken in western Maryland, where I grew up.

More corn...figuratively and literally?

Sometimes you just have to let that aggression out. It's healthy. Or was I yawning? No, I was screaming...

I rediscovered this picture after 9/11. It was taken a couple years before those events, I think. I thought it was odd how the towers were so perfectly centered behind my head, which wasn't the intention at the time, as it was taken while on a moving boat (hence the wet hair).

The strat casts a long shadow...

A live performance in Frederick, Maryland.

The Shenendoah river, in one of my favorite places in the world: Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. It's one of the best places around to just go sit, think and clear your mind.

A shot of me playing along with the great Jason Narducy in Philadelphia, opening for Bob Mould. I played E-bow on his song "Crest of Mary." He's been a great friend for a long time now and is an amazing talent. This picture isn't the greatest quality, but it's about the only one I have of a really memorable few minutes.

Early days of a KISS fan...

Obviously, I'm a cat person (though I love dogs, too). This is the collage that appears in the Greenhorn CD, featuring the best cat ever, Zirra.

Most of the cast of the Greenhorn CD.

More of the fields of Maryland, land of my birth...

A few years ago, my wife Joanie was learning guitar and wrote a number of really great songs (I eventually helped her record a CD of those songs, called Tangled in Hope). Here she is performing in front of an audience for the first time with me backing her up. She was great. Look for some of her songs on the Sounds page.

Fall is a very, very beautiful time where I live. It's probably my favorite time of year. If only it was followed by Spring...

There's a new cat in town. Meet Willie, short for "Willow." A true hellcat. And my arms bear the scratches and scars to prove it.

Joanie, me and the late, great Stuart Adamson. This was taken in Nashville. I sure miss him...
Celebrating after a rare Redskins victory. I've been a serious Redskins fan practically my whole life. It pains me when they lose. I've been in a lot of pain lately.
A shot by Joanie that I love, taken from a speeding vehicle...
Outstanding in a field...
