MONK SETS SINGLE SEASON RECEPTION RECORD, 1984

Video from the original broadcast in 1984 showing Art Monk break Charley Hennigan's single season reception record, a record that had stood for 20 years. Monk would end up with 106 catches, the only player in the entire decade of the '80s to catch more than 100 balls. In the '90s, only ONE YEAR would see the top receptions mark in the NFL dip below 100, further evidence of the shift in league rules that favored wide receivers and of why Monk's merits need to be judged based on the era in which he played.
