The Battle is the Lord's; Deut. 3:21-22
Many of our Bible passages point to our involvement in active spiritual combat, in which we must conduct ourselves as good soldiers (see Eph. 6:10-18).  No wonder, then, that learning how to gain victory in this warfare is so important.

The most important thing we will ever learn about fighting in spiritual combat is that the battle is the Lord's not ours!  We must trust our battles to Him and rest in His victory, because He will fight for us (Deut. 3:21-22).  In the midst of battle when we feel the enemy's hot breath on our neck, rather than run in fear, we need to seek out and depend upon God's presence.  Without it, victory is unlikely, if not impossible (1:42).

We must also study God's Word faithfully and carefully before going into battle.  As we practice applying it to all we think we do, we will know how to stand and fight when the attack comes; and God will show His goodness and greatness on our behalf (4:1,2,6-8).

When we feel ill-equipped to fight, we can be confident that God will supply everything we need for all He demands.  If we want to walk in victory, we must remember that our life in Christ is a life of faith.  We can depend on Him to go ahead of us into battle and to provide all we need to follow Him to victory.
