This site is dedicated to my mother and to my father,
Warren Russell Burgess (1926 - 1995)
If my mother had not kept so much related to our
family, I would not have been able to trace many of the trees in the family forest. Her enthusiasm for sharing the documents,
photos, clippings, and handwritten notes in her collection of memorabilia for the Burgess and Glass families inspired me to begin the documentation
our family history.
My family tree does not include any royalty, celebrity, or aristocracy. I
find charcoal burners, teamsters, coal miners, railroad workers, oilfield pumpers, seamsters, day laborers, blacksmiths,
butchers, shoemakers, teachers, and farmers. Contrary to the modern penchant for worshiping those that pursue wealth and celebrity,
this website honors the "peasants" like my forebears upon whose backs our prosperous America was built.
