Christians and Circumcision
Circumcision is not a religious requirement for Christians. That has been the official policy of the Christian Church since the council of Church leaders held in Jerusalem recorded in chapter 15 of the Book of Acts in the New Testament.
Quotes from The BIBLE:
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Galatians 5:6)
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts. (1st Corinthians 7:19)
Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. (Galatians 6:12)
Not even those who are circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your flesh. (Galatians 6:13)
For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group. (Titus 1:10)
Mark my words! If you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. (Galatians 5:2)
For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. (Philippians 3:3 (KJV))
We have God's Spirit, and we worship God in the Spirit... We do not trust in having a mark cut in our bodies. (Philippians 3:3 (WE))
In (Christ) you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision (of heart) done by Christ. (Colossians 2:11)
... there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free... Christ is all, and is in all. (Colossians 3:11)
The following quotes are from Colossians Chapter 2...
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
...in Him you have been made complete... and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands...
Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules:
'Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!'?
These (rules) are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
His disciples said to him, "Is circumcision beneficial or not?" He said to them, "If it were beneficial, their father would beget them already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become completely profitable." (Gospel of Thomas, Log. 53)
Those are the words of Jesus himself!
