Love in Word

There is no living thing so large
as a planet or a star, and so
the Living depend for their mutual attraction
                  not on gravity
But on mutuality of process.
So forager finds leaf
Hunter finds prey
Parasite finds host
Virus finds cell
Mate finds mate
Through the selective biogravity of needs, hungers, and signals
      highly specialized, localized, and interoperative,
one fitting into another like key and lock.
In this way, the Living traverse the span of their lives both sought and seeking,
the extent of their Being in spacetime
            determined not by supernatural Plan
but by the achievement and maintenance of equilibria
within the energy and material limits between which processes of Life
                              can be sustained.

So had you been thinking
that for any Living the core impetus of interattraction
            is Love?
Love does exist
and is not a factor in any drive toward,
nor can it be driven by a need for,
                  resolution or satedness.
Neither a cause nor an effect,
neither a tool nor an edifice,
Love is the lived full participation of
Consciousness in Being—
a process of ongoing simultaneous perception, acceptance,
welcoming, joy, gratitude, gladness, and nurturance
In and through which differentiation of Perceiver and Perceived self-negates,
Be, live, and love fusing
      into a unitary, synonymless Verb,
Understanding producing more light
      than Consciousness receives
Out of proportion to the seeming limits of locale and experience
concomitant with the finite corporeality of Life
            in spacetime.

Such is its intensity that we do not look directly at Love in Word
but rather consider only reflections in Symbol
of an Energy so capable of imparting equal gravity
to idea, dust mite, and star,
Speaking of its light,
      singing of its warmth,
            writing of the shadows
Where Understanding has not yet supplanted
Belief.
