About Kathleen Hagerty
I grew up in Nashua, N.H. and lived there until I was 38. We vacationed in York county every summer. My Mom was born and raised in Portland, so this gave her the opportunity to visit friends as well as relatives when we were on vacation. They
would always find a place to take me riding while on vacation. I developed a love for Maine at a very young age.
I was the child who brought all the unwanted or hurt animals home and then had my Uncle Freddy (who was a Veterinarian) fix them up or just vaccinate them.
I love all animals large and small. I started riding around 7 or 8 at a stable that offered trail rides. I wanted
more so my Mom (God Bless her) would bring me to Jasper Valley Stables in Amherst, N.H. every week-end. As I got older I was able to clean stalls (we
actually used rubber gloves to pick up poops by hand) and help out around the stable, just to be around horses.
My parents bought my first horse for me when I was around 12, his name was Red and he taught me a lot. I will never forget
my first riding instructor Sue RiddelI. I rode Hunt Seat for many years and then joined the Pony Club in Groton, Mass. I rode under many top instructors in Hamilton, Pepperell,
Mass; at the big training barns in Mass.
I had quality instruction just an hour or so away. I then went on to eventing and showed all over the south eastern
states. I owned several horses after Red and trained and taught lessons in my area well into my twenties. I
also rode western on and off through out my life and still do. I just love to ride... I love to trail ride and go camping
with my 4 legged companions.
I left the horse world to breed and show Belgian Tervuren dogs for about
12 years. I showed my own dogs and others and put many championship, companion dog and tracking titles on them.
I always missed the horses and knew someday I would be back to my true passion, horses. I worked as a
Veterinarian Technician at several practices in N.H in my twenties and thirties.
I am now blessed with being able to put my life’s long dream into reality.
Helping others through the spirit and healing power of horse. I have always wanted to work with people enhancing their lives and finding fulfillment.
I'm a NARHA certified Riding Instructor and hope to become a Centered Riding Instructor
in the near future.
