FAQs
- Q. I’d like to buy some of your photo prints. What are your prices?
- A. The prices depend mainly on the size of the print, ranging from as low as $35 for some 5" x 7" prints, to $335 for some 20" x 24" labor-intensive prints. For more details, click on the Pricing button on the left, or email me at RollinsArt@verizon.net (or just click on this link: email me). Prices for paintings vary depending on the size of the painting and its complexity. State sales tax will be added. Shipping costs vary slightly with the size of the work.
- Q. Do you include matting & framing?
- A. No, my prices are for the artwork. This gives you the opportunity to arrange for the color of the mat and the style of the frame that best suits your decor.
- Q. Speaking of matting and framing - what should I know about that?
- A. If properly matted, framed, and displayed, a quality photo print can maintain its original condition for decades, and an original watercolor for centuries:
- Make sure your framer uses 100% acid-free materials. The mat, backing, even the adhesive must be acid-free.
- Using UV-filtering glass can minimize fading.
- Photo prints aften look best with a thin dark frame and a complementing mat. Typical colors are white or off-white, gray, or black. With watercolors a relatively simple frame and a white or off-white mat is often preferred. Avoid dark or brightly colored mats and heavy, ornate frames. The artwork should be the star of the presentation, not overpowered by it.
- Q. You mentioned displaying. What should I know about that?
- A. There are a couple of simple guidelines:
- Do NOT display in direct sunlight.
- Do NOT display in areas of high humidity. (I don’t recommend hanging a print or a watercolor in a bathroom or sauna.)
- The UV component of fluorescent lights can contribute to rapid fading, so don't display under fluorescents.
- Q. Is there anything else I should know about permanency?
- A. The materials that the artist uses are very important.
- Whether I print your photo myself or have a commercial lab print it, I insist on top quality paper and inks.
