Listings of pre-foreclosure homes
The client was looking for the best sources of information on pre-foreclosure homes, both generally, and specifically
for the Chicago area.

Alas, there was no such publication when the question was answered, but we did find some excellent online sources.
In addition to sources like realtytrac.com, there are a large number of government and private sites with geographic searching,

This client wanted access to large commercial databases of foreclosure auction and lis pendens data, and was looking
for a particular real estate news article.
For databases, we steered the client to:

as the most comprehensive commercial source, and also noted examples of other national and local sources, such as:
