Notes:
Windmiller and church elder in Prezelle, he came from Kaulitz, though may not have been born there. He took over the mill (Bockwindmühle) in Prezelle about 1665 after the death without heirs of the previous miller Michael Pardemann. The lease was renewed in 1694 at twice the rent. Jochim died of consumption complicated by bad liquor ("Schwindsucht procul dubio Brandewein").

The Gartzmann clan is one of the old families of the Altmark. The village of Gartz is the source of the surname. The Gartzmann family remained millers in Prezelle until at least 1932, with the exception of a brief period from 1765 to 1771 remaining in possession of the mill continuously.
