Notes:
Fred. He was listed as a servant for his half brother August Rewinkel in
Langendorf in 1861. He moved to the US in 1868, with William Wolter,
on the cattle boat Tripoli. He settled first in Eitzen Minnesota, working
on the farm of Charles and Sarah Albee. On 25 February 1870 he filed his
declaration of intent to become a citizen of the United States, in
Caledonia, Houston County, Minnesota. He was a baptismal sponsor for
Henry Kohlmeier in Eitzen on 28 August 1870. He then moved to
Nebraska in 1871 (FYH.15) or on 6 April 1872 (FYH.30, REW1, LYONS, EE4).
He worked in Lyons for Walter Lyon for several years before marriage. He
was a charter member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church near
Lyons, Nebraska, in 1874. They settled in June 1875 on the farm three
and a half miles south of Lyons, where they lived in the two rooms above
the granary before their house was built in 1881. This was in the
southwest quarter of Section 7, Oakland Township (later Bell Creek
Township), Burt County. He also co-owned, with his brother, 80 acres in
Section 11, close to Dodge Creek. In 1885 he had a hired hand on the
farm, Peter L. Nelson. Fred died of a lung condition after suffering a lung
hemorrhage the previous August.
He always gave his birthyear as 1847. LD2.2 gives his birthdate as 18
Jun 1846, as does REW20.43, but stricken out and written 20 July 1847.
ASR gives his age as 44 years on 20 Jul 1890.

Author of extensive diaries 1880 - 1923.
Anna was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eitzen, in 1871. She
came to Nebraska 10 May 1872 with her mother and siblings. In 1895
she went with Amelia Rewinkel to Chicago to attend the wedding of Rev.

daughters Elsie and Ida to live where daughter Anna was living. Her
other daughters Melinda and Emma followed 6 July 1917. She lived with
Anna and Otto Kammeyer at 5228 42nd Ave S.W. in an unfinished attic.
She moved to 532 18th Ave on 19 March 1918. She sold that house
before a trip to Nebraska May-October 1919, then moved to 1512 2nd

Notes:
Caroline's baptismal sponsor was Dorothee Kuhlmanns from Evesen.
Caroline served as a maidservant for a painter named Hofmeier in
Bückeburg. She emigrated to America with her new husband immediately
after marriage. After the death of her husband in the Civil War, she
stayed on the farm near Eitzen Minnesota for a year and a half. She tried
to find work in Chicago but failed, so she returned to Minnesota and
bought another 40 acres next to her land, renting out all but 16 acres.
This property was in the extreme southwestern corner of Winnebago
township, the west half of the southwest quarter of section 31, right on
the Iowa state line. She was a founding member of Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Eitzen, Minnesota in 1871. She sold her farm to J.
Deters and moved to Nebraska, arriving on 10 May 1872 with relatives,
where she bought another farm from Mr. Geisler just east of the Eggert
farm. In the spring of 1885, she moved to Ellinwood Kansas with two of
her daughters and their families, and returned to Nebraska in the spring
of 1887. She suffered from asthma.
Taufpatin: Dorothee Kuhlmanns aus Evesen.
SP.47 gives her birthday as 18 Aug 1822, but this is certainly in error.
EE.1 and SFR.1 give the same date, but probably copied the error from
SP.47. In her baptismal record, her father is listed as Friedrich Wilhelm
Kohlmeier.
LYONSLVS says she died Tuesday night (29-30 Nov 1892).
