Eileen Saint Lauren

Momma, Roses, Ray Charles

Daddy died in my arms a few years ago and is in heaven drinking with the disciples and planting a garden when the weather permits. Daddy always called me Babydoll. In the spring of 2009, at the age of 86, Momma gave a little laugh and flew into heaven.

Momma was a writer too. She taught me early on the value of reading, writing, and the positive power of prayer. She always closed every letter to me with, "I love you and just write!"

The "Hattiesburg American Newspaper," and the "Petal Journal," in South Mississippi published her work. Anything Momma "just sat down and prayed about then wrote" was published.

"The yellow rose of friendship and the red rose of  love. Both go hand in hand in any relationship."

Momma and I shared a love for roses.
