This part of the Tinder Genealogy contains all the names I have found in Scotland that are connected to the Tinder surname. There are two Tinders of interest. James Tinder (b 1737) is interesting in the fact that he was born about the time our James here in American was to have been born in Scotland. You will also notice that he is married to a Sarah in Scotland. Maybe this is why there isn't a marriage record here in America, they were married when they arrived?? William and his father Andrew (b 1764) are interesting in the fact that I found their names spelled William Tinder and William Teinder and Andrew Tinder and Andrew Teinder which indicates that the name was used both ways in Scotland. The reason I know they were the same people was because Jean Smith was listed as the mother and wife in both cases.
