Brother Roland & Gail Ouellette
I
was born in Acushnet, Mass. In January of 1947.
My folks belonged to a Religious Cult, ( Herbert W. Armstrong’s World
wide Church of God). I studied the bible
from cover to cover, even at the
earliest age. I became intrigued by its content. Even though I did not understand what I was
reading, it became a real challenge.
I
attended Imperial School, after moving to Big Sandy, Texas in 1963. I graduated, and then applied to Ambassador
College in Big Sandy, but was turned down.
It was at this time, that my life began to take a turn for the
worst. I ended up with the wrong
crowd. I am just glad that God had a
plan for my life, and was watching out for me.
Gail
entered the picture in the spring of 1968.
We began to date in spite of the opposition from the “Church”. I was saved after being invited to a Revival
Service at FBC, Big Sandy. It was that
night, that I gave My life to Christ, and God called me to the Gospel
Ministry. All this was just too much to
handle, so I suppressed the call, and put it off for 9 years.
Gail
and I began our family, 2 boys, William Curt & Richard Wayne. Life was great. I worked as a carpenter and Gail at the local
bank.
In
1974, 6 months after building a new home out in the country, we went on a Mission Trip to the Valley,
Falcon Heights, Texas. It was there that
I felt the call again, but this time, to be a Missionary. “Me a Missionary, there must be some
mistake”. Then it all began to come
together. The House went up for sale. 2 years later, after much negotiations with
God, (which by the way were all one sided), the house sold and we began a long
journey into Missionary life.
We
served as Volunteer Missionaries for the first 4 years. Helping with different churches. Then FBC of Rio Grande City, where our
membership was, called me to be their pastor.
I accepted and served there with Gail for 20 more years. God used us in starting new missions,
building buildings and just working in FBC.
Gail was the youth Director for 20+ years. She had a great ministry with the youth. Many were saved and Baptized and are serving
their own churches where ever they are today.
Our
recent move was to ESBC. We were called
here in February of 2,000. It has been a
great journey. ESBC has some of the most
wonderful folks, loving, serving the Lord with Joy in their hearts. It is a Joy to be here and hope to serve this
church and its community for years to come.
