We are chess organizers, directors, players and teachers. This web-site is dedicated to our chess programs and promoting chess in the Hampton Roads area. If you need help establishing a scholastic or open chess club, please call or e-mail us. Lessons can be arranged for beginning chess players. June 21  Adam Thoroughgood House chess event. 
Event time Change  Now 1pm, 3pm, and 5 pm.  Piece and player volunteers still needed. Please contact Karin immediately
Each year, the Virginia Beach Historic Houses Society sponsors a Midsummer
Faire event at the Adam Thoroughgood House (circa 1720). This year's event will have a chess theme. A live chess game will be held on Sunday at about
1, 3, and 5 pm. The Princess Anne County/Virginia Beach Historical Society  is looking for volunteers to serve as pieces and as players. If you are interested
 in volunteering as a chess piece for one or more of the games or for information about the event, please contact Karin Pettinger. Our area chess players are
encouraged to attend the function and support this worthy organization both by volunteering and attending. There is a $3 per person entry fee to get onto the
grounds and this helps to support this and other area historical houses. Volunteers who contact Karin will receive a free pass.

Play Chess in the Hampton Roads Area

Tidewater Chess Club -  Norfolk    The Tidewater Chess Club meets every Tuesday evening from 6:45 to 10 pm
at the Beth Messiah synagogue, 7130 Granby Street across from Granby HS. Play casual or USCF rated chess.
Free to play casual chess or watch the events. Rated events have a small entry fee and require USCF membership.


Virginia Beach Chess Club  - Virginia Beach   Play casual chess on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 10 pm at the
Tidewater Community College cafeteria in building D – Kempsville building at the Va. Beach campus.


Williamsburg
Chess Club - Williamsburg   Meets every Tuesday, including holidays from 7-10 pm at The Williamsburg Landing
 5700 Williamsburg Landing Drive in the 2nd floor game room of the main building. Contact Tom Landvogt at (757) 565-5792 for directions and details.

 
Cyberwocky - Newport News 
Meets Wednesday evenings from 6:45-10 pm at Cyberwocky, 711 Brick Kiln Blvd Ste F, Newport News.

The club is free - there is no charge to come and play casual chess. Sets and boards provided. http://www.cyberwocky.net/.

Waterside  - Norfolk    Play casual chess at the food court at Waterside on Sunday afternoons. Downtown Norfolk on Waterside Drive.
