The guide rods are machined on my lathe at home out of 304 stainless bar stock. I made the first stainless rod for my SP2340 in March of 2005.  It has seen many hundreds of rounds without a blip.  The following year I started offering them for sale on SIGforum.com.  About 90 of them have been sold so far with zero complaints.

I was getting requests for black rods, so I sent some to CCR Refinishing to get coated.  The people at CCR recommended their ceramic finish since the spring rubs it. The finish does get worn in the areas of direct contact, like the "smiles" on your barrel, but the visible portion when the gun is assembled looks great.
See section "How does Black finish hold up" for more details.

The black rods are made from the same 304SS as the plain rods.
