This page is intended to cover one main stumbling block in the field stripping procedure. It is not a detailed instruction from beginning to end. You should follow the instructions in the SIG Pro owner's manual.

The stumbling block I speak of has caught me off guard a few times even after I had it completely figured out. This issue comes up from time to time in gun forums and I felt it would be a good idea to cover it here.

Make sure gun is unloaded, pull the slide back till it stays back.
Remove magazine.

The trickiest part is getting the notch in the slide lined up with the slide stop pin.
When the slide is back the whole way, allow it to go forward about 3/8 inch.

“A” is the part that needs to line up with the notch in the slide. When slide is back the whole way “B” will line up with the notch and almost looks the same. When “B” is showing, “A” is hidden under the slide and it will not come out.

After you're sure the notch is in the right place, push the slide stop pin from the right side of the gun. When the gun is new it might be a little stubborn. Use the handle of a plastic spoon to push if necessary.  Do not use leverage in any way! Push straight in on the pin. If it doesn't come out double check the left side, the slide probably moved a little bit.  After a few times you should be able to use your finger tip. A drop of oil will help.

For assembly, look in the hole in the frame and find the hole in the barrel lug. (left arrow) When it's lined up, the back of the slide will be flush with the back of the frame. (right arrow)

Put the pin in loosely but but don't push until you pull the slide back to where it lines up with the notch. You might have to wiggle the slide stop lever up and down before it will snap in the whole way.
