In 2005 I decided to venture out of the anonymity of private life to
enter the world of elective office and public service. I saw a vacuum of honest and intelligent leadership
in our community. Our county government was in crisis.
As a political outsider and novice candidate, I designed and executed
a challenge to the party-endorsed incumbent and beat him decisively in both the primary and general elections.
It's now two years later and I have decided to run for re-election.
Not much has changed in the campaign I wage this year.
Although I am the incumbent and I have labored hard to import ethics,
transparency, accountability and professionalism into county government, the landscape is still heavily populated by political
operatives who dictate the field of "party endorsed candidates".
While I did not carry any party endorsement in 2005 I believe
the message of the Primary and General Election Voters in 2005 was unmistakeable. Status quo politicians and status
quo puppets will no longer be tolerated. Given a choice, the People will choose one of their own.
I believe that in this year's election the People will deliver
the same message:
"We choose Cindy."
