Welcome to our Music Page! Here at First Baptist we believe that sacred music was created to communicate to our hearts and play a vital role in each Sunday service. Congregational singing includes traditional and gospel hymns as well as some contemporary and praise songs. Our church is a musical congregation that regularly celebrates the Lord with anthems, solos, vocal and instrumental ensembles, as well as many other musical offerings throughout the year.
At First Baptist there are a number of ways you can participate in the musical and artistic life of our church. We have two major traditional ensembles: the Sanctuary Choir and the Handbell Choir. These ensembles meet on Thursday nights and participate on a regular basis in our 11:00 a..m. worship service in addition to special seasonal performances.
Our Sanctuary Choir is our largest and most experienced ensemble at First Baptist. With their tradition of excellence in the classic church literature and their openness to new styles and literature, the Sanctuary Choir is an excellent way for someone to experience good choral singing. The Sanctuary Choir meets every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
Our Handbell Choir meets every Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. Although the ability to read music is a definite plus, we are willing to work with anyone who would like to make a commitment to this ensemble. At the present, we only have an adult Handbell Choir.
Our Junior Choir (grades 3-6) meets every Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 p.m. These energetic children truly enjoy making music for the Lord. They perform during the worship service several times during the year. This group is always open to new members. Transportation can be provided if that is the only thing that keeps a child from attending this rehearsal.
At the present time we work at having the handbells and junior choir sing on the last Sunday of each month.
