Date: 22 June 1941, 1200 hours. Location: About 10km southwest of Kobin near the villiage of Staroje. Early on 22 June 1941, the German 3rd Panzer Division crossed into Soviet territory. Around midday it ran directly into advancing elements of the Soviet 22nd Tank Division that was sent to intercept the German advance. The advance of the 22nd Tank Division was poorly coordinated and poorly supported. While temorarily slowing the advance of 3rd Panzer Division, it did little to disrupt the German attack.
