Freddie Jones: Composer / Producer / Trumpeter
An adjunct professor at Brookhaven College in Dallas (TX), Freddie also takes his trumpet and his group on the road throughout the Southwest, headlining hot spots like Fort Worth’s Caravan of Dreams and Austin's Elephant Room. He’s also played Little Rock's Riverfront Auditorium and pops up at festivals in Oklahoma City and everywhere else in the area, sharing the stage with such greats as David Sanborn, Freddie Hubbard, Chuck Magione, George Benson and Najee.
He also has a vigorous roster of private students and is known for his mentoring of upcoming trumpet players. On the sly, Freddie conducts fundraisers to buy trumpets for high-school band students.
Freddie has produced three highly acclaimed CDs and is a frequent guest on other musicians’ recording projects. His CDs are available online at CD Baby and Amazon, and at Borders Books and Music and Waterloo Austin.

Word On The Street
"Jones is a great trumpet player and songwriter. There is a lot of evidence of that on this disc. He has a real talent for setting the mood and keeping you in the moment. Check out the elegant horn work on a tune like "L' Flight". Jones knows his instrument well and plays with a virtuoso passion."
-- Bill Fountain, Texas Blues Magazine
"There was a time in certain neighborhoods across the country when musicians would meet at a street corner and try to outplay each other. That's the world that trumpeter Freddie Jones grew up in. Freddie explains, "If you didnt win, you didn't have a girlfriend". That's some serious motivation to practice ... the practice has paid off for Freddie.."
-- Alan Cohen, Pegasus News
"Freddie Jones is a consummate artist who understands how to communicate with an audience, whether it's a live audience or a TV audience, as he has proved several times on my arts and entertainment program About Towne and a variety of music shows on Irving Community Television Network. He never fails to pull in the audience and deliver an exciting performance."
-- Catherine Witeman, Irving Cable Television
"With an amazing musical gift, Freddy Jones kicks up the energy of a room a notch or two and thrills a jazz-lover's soul! We are in awe of the sound this man can coax from his horns."
-- Gene and Peggy Helmick-Richardson, Twice Upon a Time Storytellers
"Playing music with Freddie is always a transcendent experience. Just a cameo appearance in Local Honey's Holiday Mix creates a palpable fascination from the audience."
-- Kelly Brown, producer
