I ][ BARBER - BALSAM - BEER - BITTERS - BLACK GLASS - CANDY CONTAINERS
  1. Dr. J. HOSTETTER'S / STOMACH BITTERS --- This is a true classic. A Hostetter's in a root beer type amber, with lighter coloration at the top (shoulder area) and fading to darker amber near the heel. One side is embossed the same as the listing title. Another is embossed at heel with: 17N 27. There are no base markings. It still retains partial foil around the top. This one is undamaged, but it does have some staining, typical of most dug bottles. A smaller machine made variation, standing 8 7/8" tall by 2 5/8" wide......$20.00 +S&H.
  2. JOHNNY BULL - GINGER BEER --- The photo shows the front and back of this true green ABM (squat shaped) ginger beer. One side has an embossed head and shoulders of a man dressed well complete with hat, probably Mr. Bull himself. The back shoulder is embossed: CONTENTS 7 1/2 FL. OZ. The base is embossed: REGISTERED over 1930 then on base rim is 3 O N 1. It is approximately 7 3/8" tall, has a few pin head size fleabites and overall case wear. A good looking bottle based on color alone.....$18.00 +S&H.
  3. PATENT Black Glass Cylinder --- Here we offer a super bubbly olive green shoulder PATENT cylinder. In 5/16" fonts, PATENT is embossed on one shoulder of this three piece mold blown bottle with a double, applied and tapered lip. The base has a small nipple in the center and it is rough and grainy in an indented area. It is in wonderful condition, but needs a better clean-up. Not a tumble, just some contents stain and some 'shelf' dirt on the shoulders, like it has been on a shelf for a long time. A crude bottle with seed bubbles everywhere, as well as large bubbles (in the lip too!) standing 10 3/4" tall.....$55.00 +S&H.
  4. R. PORTNER BREWING Co. - Porcelain Stopper --- Red lettering under glaze is centered in a double diamond with the words: TRADE over TIVOLI over MARK. Under that is Alexa. Va. The inserted portion has writing to include the word: GERMANY. It is approximately 1" x 1" in size, damage free and is in beautiful condition. A hard to find closure to complete your bottle.....$39.00 FREE S&H!
  5. OTTO KORN - PETERSBURG, VA. - Porcelain Stopper --- Black lettering under glaze with OK monogram in center. The inserted portion has writing to include the words: K. HUTTER. A local and hard to find closure that would complete an equally hard to find bottle.....$25.00 +S&H.
  6. SALT CITY BOTTLING CO. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. / BEST BREWED GINGER BEER --- A tan and white stoneware, tapered blob, printed in an oval with a double diamond centered, all in black transfer (see pics). Stoneware ginger beer bottles are normally found from Canada and the UK, but this is American and from one of the few companies that put these out then. It still has some rust from the bail and should clean up a bit more (looks great now). To be accurate, I see only three small and very shallow flakes, that are very difficult to detect. Two are approximately 1/8" and the other is 3/8" X 7/16" (at heel on back). The right photo shows the back and what looks like a crack. It assure you that this is under the glaze and not damage. A neat, heavy and sturdy vessel, standing 6 5/8"" tall.....$42.00 +S&H.
  7. TURLINGTON'S BALSAM --- A clear or colorless balsam embossed on one sunken panel: TUR / LING / TON'S / BALSAM. It is 3" tall, blown and violin shaped (sort of). A damage free later variation of a classic.....$22.00 +S&H.
  8. PHILIP ZAUN - PHILADELPHIA PA. --- This is a beautiful aqua blob full of character and crudeness. Embossed on the front is: PHILIP ZAUN in arc then PHILADELPHIA over PA. The back is embossed: THIS over BOTTLE over NOT TO BE over SOLD. It's 7 1/4" tall, quite heavy and weiss bier (beer) shaped, complete with olive streaks in the glass. After very close inspection, I found two very tiny, shallow, fish eye type marks, but you can look and look and miss these. A professionally cleaned bottle that still retains only light inside haze. A truly hard to find squat that used a unique closure - click here to see an illustration.....$85.00 FREE S&H!

II ][ COSMETIC - COLOGNE - CURES - FIGURAL - FLASKS - FOOD
  1. Amber Strap-sided Flask with Open SAFE EMBOSSED --- Here's a super find! How many of these have you seen offered, if any? A light amber strap-sided quart flask with an open safe (with bottles inside) embossed, inside a circle slug area (2 1/8" by 2 1/4"). The safe's door is hinged and open to the right with five bottles inside... two larger bottles on the top shelf, with three smaller bottles below. The safe is on wheels. The base is very lightly embossed with a diamond symbol. It's a damage free flask, with only a couple of tiny light hidden scratches, a whisp of shelf dirt in the bottom and light cloudiness... Nothing major at all. This is mentioned for accuracy reasons only. It's more than ready for display on your shelf. I'd also like to mention, there is one large bubble on the right shoulder, that has a small inclusion on its edge. It's perfectly crude and healthy, and without radiations. Please compare this flask to the other aquamarine safe embossed flask we have listed (just below this listing). They are both completely different, with the amber variation as the rarest of the two. This amber flask has an applied lip and is 9 5/8" tall by 4 3/8" at the widest point.....$285.00 +S&H
  2. Aqua Strap-sided Flask with SAFE EMBOSSED --- A light aqua strap-sided quart flask with a safe embossed (CLICK HERE FOR A CLOSE-UP PICTURE), inside a 3 1/8" circle slug area. The safe's door is closed with scrollwork above and below the door. The safe is on wheels. The base is embossed with a backwards number 116 (may also be 911). It's a damage free flask, with tons of small bubbles throughout. There are three very small open bubbles on the front and some crudeness in the tooled top (not damage what-so-ever). All is mentioned for accuracy. Please compare this flask to the other amber safe embossed flask we have listed. They are both completely different. It is 9 1/2" tall.....$140.00 +S&H
  3. Billy club - nightstick figural flask --- How often do you see these? Listed here, we offer a remarkable gradiant (various shades of) amber figural flask type bottle in the form of a night stick. From the thicker club end it tapers into two thick embossed rings, followed by two thin rings or bands. Eight embossed ribs form the handle section, followed by two thin rings again. The end is made up of thick external threads, with a ground lip finish. The lip has what appears to be some roughness to it, but most, if not all, appear this way as in formed in the manufacturing process. This example is being sold without a cap. A damage free nip, give-away or novelty item at it's time, probably used for some sort of spirits. It is a blown bottle at 10 1/2" long and 1 1/8" at widest point.....$85.00 +S&H.

  5. WM. CANNON / 1225-7th ST. N.W. / WASHINGTON, D.C. --- This listing is for a clear half pint strap sided flask. My Washington D.C. books do not have this size listed with this address. Below an arched ribbon embossed HONEST MEASURE, is embossed FULL 1/2 PINT, then a round slug area embossed the same as listing title. In large fonts is S.C.R. on the base. A damage free flask with bubbles and in dug condition, with some etching and stain. This will clean up better. It is 6 3/4" tall.....$60.00 +S&H.
  6. Cologne with flowers --- A small clear fancy violin type cologne with flowers embossed. As shown in the picture, it has a partial neck label stating: COLOGNE. One side has embossed flowers and the other side, the panel is bare... label space. This is a non-dug bottle, in great condition. There is one spot at the heel that looks like a tiny chip. It isn't a chip, just a fold in the making of this and it's smooth. A real cutie, standing 3 3/16" tall.....$14.00 +S&H.
  7. F. W. ECKEL / 1901 MAIN ST. / NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. --- This listing is for a clear pint strap-sided flask embossed the same as the listing title, in a circle slug. Above this is embossed: REGISTERED / FULL PINT. The base is unembossed. It is a dug New York flask with some scratches and interior (mostly) haze/stain. This can easily be removed with a light professional cleaning, but it displays well in its current condition. Also check out the quart flask from the same proprietor, listed below this listing or listed soon. A great flask from our nation's border, standing 8 1/8" tall.....$65.00 +S&H.

  9. HOOD'S FRENCH COLOGNE - PATENTED APRIL 8th 1879 --- A clear round flask type bottle embossed the same as the listing title. A dug bottle with only a small amount of inside dirt/stain (should clean-up better and easily), but no damage, just a tiny open bubble on the front round rib. A blown bottle that must lay on it's side. Dimensions are 3 5/8" lip to base by and 2 3/4" wide.....$25.00 +S&H.
  10. FULL MEASURE / JOHNSON & BRO / ESTd 1861 / GROCERS / NEW HAVEN, CT. --- This listing is for an aquamarine quart strap sided flask embossed the same as the listing title, in a circle slug. A gigantic and beautiful flask that's very clean and damage free (only a few tiny scratches on the back and hardly worth mentioning). The embossing has been highlighted with something black by another collector and can be removed if needed. This listing is for the flask pictured on the left only. It stands an impressive 10" tall.....$190.00 +S&H.
  11. KLUTTZ'S / CHILL CURE --- We are proud to offer this hard to obtain North Carolina cure. Embossed as in title on one panel, then side is embossed: KLUTTZ & CO. Opposite side has: SALISBURY, N.C. (NC). The base is smooth and slightly indented. Looking it over very carefully, I don't see any damage. There is one tiny area on the lip that, at first looks like a chip, but is rather a fold in the making of this bottle. This is a non-dug bottle and has never been in the ground. I have only washed out the inside of this bottle, which contained small amounts of the product. The glass is in remarkable condition. For more on this company, history, scarcity and so on visit: Raleigh Bottle Club - June 2001 Newsletter. A very light aqua or green tinted glass, full of crude features standing 5 7/8" tall.....$220.00 FREE S&H!
  12. GI-107a Teal Jenny Lind Calabash Flask --- McKearin's American Bottles and Flasks and Their Ancestry lists this as the counterfeit Fislerville bottle. They first appeared in the late 1920s or early 1930s. Obverse is an arc JENNY LIND over a bust of a figure (woman) facing left with leaves below. Reverse has FISLERVILLE GLASS WORKS above embossed factory with puffs of smoke and barrels in foreground. A quart flask with a large pontil mark on base - CLICK HERE to see the bottom. After producing this in only aquamarine, a few years later specimens in amethyst, blue, emerald green and amberina appeared on the market. This one is a rich teal blue green in color (not listed and the hardest of the colors to find) and is in excellent condition. The teal variations seem to be the crudest and are also taller because the neck is usually longer. This one stands 10 5/8" tall and 5 3/8" at widest point. You'll love this one!.....$50.00 +S&H.
  13. JOS. MOONEY / LIQUOR (R is ghosted) DEALER / 1021 MAIN / KANSAS CITY, MO. --- A clear shoofly (or shoo-fly) flask from the midwest. A hard to find spirits container from Missouri. Embossed in a circle slug the same as the listing title. It's in great condition. There's a smooth flaw (I would call it) at the top of the lip that is about 1/8". It looks like a flake, but again it's smooth and seems like an 'in making' flaw. The front side of the lip has a small scratch (appox. 1/4"). The front heel has a 3/8" flake with a pinpoint ding under that on the bottom. It also has some very light interior stain. Wow, this sounds bad, but I assure you that I'm being picky and you really have to search to find these issues. It's a blown 1/2 pint flask with folds, bubbles and other crudeness, standing 6 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" at widest point.....$179.00 +S&H.

  17. S. ORANGE / 18 / CONGRESS ST. / BRADFORD / PA. --- is embossed on one side of this very unusual ball shaped amethyst bottle. I'm not sure what type of product was in this spherical bottle, but it has a large opening. Probably a dug bottle with only a long scratch from 'Congress' to 'PA' (It looks worse in pic), but it's clean and crude. As you can see, the neck leans a good bit. Bradford is a small town in northern Pennsylvania, near the New york border, just south of Buffalo. A blown bottle standing 3 3/4" tall and 3 1/4" wide.....$35.00 +S&H.

This appears to be a dug bottle and it's in super condition. I didn't clean it, so it still has a small amount of inside contents stain, which should clean up nice and a trace of rust from the bail on the closure. All of this can be removed easily and is typical with dug bottles. One side has a large R then Richmond Dairy in a banner then a milk bottle flanked by two cow heads then 'Milk For Health'. The opposite side has a woman's silhouette, then 'Dolly Madison Ice Cream - A Master product of Richmond Dairy'. The only issue with this is a small triangle shaped smooth lip flake (1/4" and tapered on the back) and a small amount of dirt inside that should clean up very easily. Of course, this is all mentioned for accuracy. It's a wonderful example, standing 4 3/8" tall.....$14.00 +S&H.
  19. Umbrella Ink --- An aqua eight sided umbrella ink with rolled lip. It is formed with wavy glass and very crude. The heel has: PROPERTY OF COCA-COLA / BOTTLING WORKS over 1841A then ROOT then 15. The base has: COCA-COLA in script. This is a dug bottle, but it's very clean and has very little wear (you'll have to look hard to see any). Being very picky, there's a pinhead size flake on back C of COLA and another on heel near seam. It stands 7 5/8" tall.....$28.00 +S&H.
  4. CLARK & ROBERTS (monogram) BOSTON / MASS. --- A very light green (aqua) blob top soda or water, embossed in a round or oval slug, over REGISTERED. The base is smooth and overall it's very clean. It stands 9 3/4" tall.....$18.00 +S&H.
  6. MARY A. KANE / NEW LONDON / CONN. --- Not your average hutchinson bottle. This hutch is embossed in a tombstone slug, the same as listing title with REGISTERED below and is from a female proprietor (quite unusual for any bottle). It's in great condition, with a few very tiny fleabites (1/32" - 1/64") on the back (only mentioned for accuracy and not an issue at all). A dug aquamarine hutch with only a touch of cloudiness. The base has C. 36 over 3 embossed. It stands 6 3/4" tall.....$155.00 +S&H.
  7. CHAS. B. LASH (CBL monogram) PORTSMOUTH, VA. --- A clear straight sided crowntop, embossed the same as the listing title, in a round or oval shaped slug. The back heel is embossed: REGISTERED and the base A.G.W. (American Glass Works) ... faintly. This appears to be a dug bottle. 8. LEMON - KOLA (actual bottle for sale) - A close up of the embossing of a sold bottle - also see below --- A light amethyst (SCA), BIM soda with bubbles throughout. Embossed is LEMON-KOLA 5 cents-with cent symbol in a round shaped slug over REGISTERED on heel. The back heel has this very lightly embossed: C. (or could be a G) S. & G. (again, it could be a C) CO. 3. The very thick glass is in remarkable condition for a dug bottle, with only light inside staining (should clean up quickly), some pinhead size fleabites-dings and normal base wear. It's crude and early, standing 7 3/4" tall.....$23.00 +S&H.
  9. MAY POP --- An aqua drink bottle with an embossed shoulder in a dot - long upside down triangle - dot pattern. One side has: MAY POP then at heel is US PATENT OFFICE over (looks like) D.O.C. 521-7. Opposite side has TRADEMARK over a primitive leafless tree then REGISTERED. The base has: another neat looking tree embossed. A dug bottle with some/typical caseware. There are only two tiny well hidden and hard to see fleabites (1/8" x 1/8") and a sliver of glass (1/16" x 1/8") missing, all from the large part of the crowntop. Very hard to detect and mentioned for accuracy. There is also an area (1" long) above and between MAY POP, that at first looks like a crack, but with a close inspection, we see this: The top half is raised or embossed like and the lower half is a void. Kind of looks like a fold in the making of this and a long open bubble. Not something that you would call damage. It's machine made and stands 8 5/8" tall.....$22.00 +S&H.
  10. MOUNTAIN DEW / FILLED BY / NICKY & PAUL --- An ACL hillbilly Mt. Dew, marked FILLED BY / NICKY & PAUL. In the Special Comments section of his listing he states: Very plain & simple yet beautiful style. The back heel is embossed: REGISTERED and the base A.G.W. (American Glass Works) then 51. This is a dug bottle, and hard to dig in any condition ...it has the typical pinhead size fleabites or dings, a 1/8" lip sliver or flake (hard to detect) and a fisheye / ding (1/2" X 3/8") hidden on the back above the GI in Registered, along with some contents haze or stain/cloudiness. It looks great displayed here and it should look nice in your home. A crude Virginia bottle, complete with leaning neck, standing 8 3/4" tall.....$110.00 +S&H.
  12. PEPSI COLA / SUFFOLK, VA. --- An aqua Rarity 1-2 script Pepsi, embossed the same as the listing title, at the heel of one side. Under this embossing at the very bottom of the heel is 17N 1. A hard to find give away from New Jersey.....$68.00 +S&H.

Bottled in Petersburg 1852 -1930 A Directory of the Antique Bottles and Stoneware of Petersburg, Virginia and the Businesses That Produced Them by Vernon Grant is a signed by the author, hardback book with 86 pages. It was printed in 2005 and is 'Number 42'. I believe less than 50 were printed then. It's printed in color (Click here to view) with some prices listed in the back. It is in perfect unread condition and the size is 10 3/4" by 8 5/8". Sure, it's a bit pricey, but where are you going to find another?.....$115.00 FREE S&H!
  3. BUCKHORN - LITHIA WATER --- An earlier aquamarine water embossed: BUCKHORN in arc over a monogram - seal over LITHIA WATER over BULLOCK, N.C. The centered monogram - seal is embossed: BUCKHORN LITHIA WATER CO. in arc over large fancy initials (LBW) over (This is the odd and unusual part) HENDERSON, N. C. It has a scratch or two, but no real issues and some staining associated with a dug bottle. A wonderful two city North Carolina bottle considered quite scarce standing 10 1/4" tall and 4 5/8" wide.....$155.00 FREE S&H!
  4. Mouth Blown - Captured Cherry --- An oval sticker on the lower part reads: 'mund-geblasen' in German, which means 'mouth blown'. It is made in thin clear glass and enclosed in the bottom inside is two glass cherries with its stem, complete with a leaf. It probably contained some sort of modern spirits and still retains the cork closure and wax seal. A stunning bottle and conversation piece that stands 11 3/4" tall to the top of the cork.....$15.00 +S&H.
  5. CONGRESS & EMPIRE SPRING CO. / SARATOGA,N.Y. --- Offered here is a deep emerald green mineral water bottle embossed on one side the same as listing title, and centered is a large block letter C. The opposite side Click here to see the back is embossed: CONGRESS in an arc over WATER -. The base/bottom is embossed with an outline of a square. A super crude, dug bottle with some scratches and rubs. The tapered - collared top has dips and rub marks, which were there when I got this, all typical marks from a dug water of this mold. I looked it over pretty well and only found one tiny open bubble that is 1/8" in size and in the large C on the front...hard to see. This one is a pint and stands 7 5/8" tall.....$38.00
  6. DECANTER - Early --- Another photo of base - look --- Offered is a clear or colorless glass decanter etched on shoulder area (actually the whole body) with wavy lines. The shoulder area is fluted or hexagon shaped (8-sided). The body is patterned by a diamond shape, with each seperated into four parts. I bought this years ago because of its beauty. It doesn't have a stopper. The top is an applied glob of glass that adds to its overall crudity. The inside of the throat is ground. The base or bottom has an improved pontil scar and an in the making very small chip beside (hardly considered damage). A very light haze or contents stain (the base photo makes it look worse than it is...it is very light) is in the inside bottom (easy clean up) and it has a little base wear. An absolutely beautiful piece that stands 10" tall and 4 3/8" wide.....$48.00 +S&H.
  7. DEMIJOHN - Green, big and bubbly --- The top and lip start off with a deep emerald green, then it changes slightly with a touch of olive green. This demi is extra special just because every inch of it contains bubbles. There are a few open surface bubbles and it still retains some inside contents (will definately clean up better), but there isn't any damage. I removed the handled wicker from this beauty and there are a couple of light scratches and rub marks from the wicker. You'll have to look pretty hard to see them though. The base Click here to view is scarred and very sharp. This cylinder will definately sell at the next bottle show I offer it (stunning in person), so get it while you can. It stands 18" tall and 7 1/2" wide.....$145.00 +S&H.

Above this, on the shoulder is embossed: 32 FL. OUNCES. This appears to be undug and in excellent condition, but it does have some contents stain that can be removed with a good cleaning. Another great and hard to find Virginia bottle standing 11 5/8" tall and 3 3/8" wide.....$35.00 +S&H.
  10. Great American Pontiled Medicines by Frederick Nielsen --- A hard to find hardbound book with 131 pages. It was printed in 1978 and is a must for anyone that collects early medicine bottles. This book is packed with many illustrations and drawings.....$58.00 FREE S&H!
  11. GUILFORD MINERAL SPRING WATER / GUILFORD, VT. --- This is an absolutely gorgeous green - blue green - teal (depends what sort of light it's in) mineral water bottle embossed as in the listing title, inside a large diamond. Sure, this isn't a super rare mineral water, but this example is exceptional. It's loaded with crudeness, bubbles galore and really stands out on the shelf when displayed. I only see one tiny surface bubble (not broken or damage) and a bit of very light dirt, interior mostly. The back of the bottle still shows light evidence of where a diamond shaped label had been placed. It's the bottle pictured on the left only. The Congress water bottle is listed seperately. This Vermont bottle has a smooth base and stands 9 3/4" tall and 4" wide.....$158.00 +S&H.
  12. THE HAYNER DISTILLING Co. --- This is embossed in an arc over DAYTON OHIO over & over ST. LOUIS MO. over DISTILLERS in a reverse arc. 13. WM. J. RAHILY CO. / PETERSBURG, VA. --- This listing we offer a SCA cylinder whiskey embossed with the same as at left on one shoulder. The opposite shoulder has a WJR monogram embossed. The base has: A. G. W. (American Glass Works, Richmond VA) over 199. A dug bottle with various scratching and light staining, typical dug bottle. All this is mentioned for accuracy. It's in great condition. It was blown in a three piece mold and stands 11 3/8" tall and is 3 1/2" wide.....$70.00 +S&H
  14. J RIEGER & CO./ DISTRIBUTORS / KANSAS CITY, MO. --- A neat whiskey sample embossed with the same as at left. This miniature cylinder has a fluted neck and shoulders, with no base markings. It's in great condition with only a small amount of content stain, which should disappear with a better cleaning. A cutie that stands 4 5/8" tall and is 1 1/2" wide.....$30.00 +S&H.
  15. ROCKWELL SPRINGS --- I got this big bottle from North Carolina, but the only thing I could find related to Rockwell Springs was a spot on a map in the woods, south of Syracuse, NY in the Onondaga Nation (“People of the Hills”), Indian reservation. Another result stated: Rockwell Springs is a reservoir in Onondaga County in the state of New York. I haven't confirmed this origin. I'm just stating that this is the only lead(s) that I have so far. Anyone seen one like this before? In script, in a large crude tombstone shaped slug, is embossed: ROCKWELL over REGISTERED in block letters in ribbon or tail, over SPRINGS in script again. Below this in block letters at heel is: THIS BOTTLE LOANED / NOT SOLD / ONE GAL. The base is marked with: 103. A great crude blown earlier spring water bottle, with no damage, only some light interior stain ...not an issue. It'll clean up nicer. The color is an aquamarine and stands 14" tall and 5 5/8" wide.....$95.00 +S&H.
  16. SOUTHERN DISTILLING CO. / NORFOLK, VA. --- Embossed the same as the listing title, inside a double circle. Centered is the word SODISCO, twice and crossed. Above this is embossed: ONE HALF PINT / 8 FLUID OUNCES. The base only has two small raised dots. It's a clear 1/2 pint grocers whiskey and appears to be non-dug, with only a hint of interior cleanable dirt and stain. A nice eastern Virginia bottle that leans to one side slightly and stands 6" tall.....$15.00 +S&H.
  17. STRAUS, GUNST & CO. / SOLE PROPRIETORS / RICHMOND, VA. --- Embossed the same as the listing title to the left, we offer a clear rectangular whiskey. This appears to be a non-dug flask. It's just so clean and damage free. You'll have a hard time finding a nicer example. A super central Virginia bottle and a great price, standing 7 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" wide.....$28.00 +S&H.
  18. STRAUS, GUNST & CO. - RICHMOND, VA. --- This is a BIM grocer style whiskey. Unfortunately, this one has a little damage. This is a dug bottle, which means light scratching, very light stain and a couple of extremely small fleabites. Also, with very close inspection, I count three freeze (stable) cracks. One is in the large lip (3/8"), the other two are in the back of the bottle (3/16" and a curved one - 7/8") and completely out of sight when displayed. A harder to find bottle with the embossment in script standing 6" tall and 2 5/8" wide. A good example until a great one comes along, if ever....$9.00 +S&H.
  19. Utility bottle with large olive streak --- A great looking aqua, double collared utility bottle with an olive colored streak in the shoulder area. It's been professionally cleaned, but still retains some very light scratching and a neat orange peel effect overall. SOLD ITEMS
The most recent will now be listed first.

  1. SPENCER MILK CO. / SIDNEY, N.Y. --- A small milk embossed the same as the listing title at left, in a round slug. Centered is a large S. Above the slug area is: 1/4 PINT LIQUID. Below it on the heel is: REGISTERED then 211. The base has a large S and the number 42. It's a super clean quarter pint milk with no damage or issues, standing only 4 1/4" tall..... SOLD
  2. E. J. GRAFF / NEWPORT NEWS, VA. / FULL QUART --- A large clear (amethyst hint) rectangular whiskey embossed the same as the listing title, near the top shoulder area, inside a circle slug. A hard to find Virginia bottle standing 10 1/2" tall and 3 7/8" wide..... SOLD
  3. JOHNSON & BRO / GROCERS / 247 STATE ST. / NEW HAVEN, CT. --- Here we offer a beautiful amber, pint strap sided flask embossed the same as the listing title, in a circle slug. Just a super bottle that's very clean and damage free (only a few tiny light scratches on the back and hardly worth mentioning). The embossing has been highlighted with something black by another collector and can be removed if needed. This listing is for the flask pictured on the right only. It is 7 3/4" tall..... SOLD
  4. JOHN CHAPLIN / PURE LIQUORS / ADAMS, MASS. --- This listing is for an amber, pint strap sided flask embossed the same as the listing title, in a double circle slug. If you want a very crude flask, this is it. It has a good many large bubbles and a big 'drip' on the front of the applied top. There is an open bubble (right of slug in pic) with a 1/8" flake from that and a tiny open bubble on the back. It has a small amount of stain/dirt (nothing major) and should clean up easily. This listing is for the flask pictured on the right only. It is 7 5/8" tall..... SOLD
  5. JOHN HAYES & CO / WHOLESALE DEALERS / MANCHESTER NH --- Here we offer a gigantic, bright yellow amber, strap-sided quart flask, embossed the same as the listing title, in a round slug. It's hard to tell, but we'll call this is a dug bottle, since there are some small scratches centered on the back, to include a couple of very tiny (very picky 1/32") 'checks' or dings. Just like another listing online, for the only other flask seen in this size, it has a shallow 3/8" bruise on the mold seam. Hmmm... may just be from the same mold. At first, I thought it was an inclusion or potstone, because of its milky look. There is another scratch above that on the seem, as well. It has the usual light interior stain and some cork residue. Please, keep in mind, this is a rare New Hampshire flask, and I'm being very picky with the description of this. It's quite beautiful and you'll have to look very hard to see anything I've mentioned about it's condition. This listing is for the flask on the right in the picture, only. It stands 9 5/8" tall..... SOLD
  6. THE BOTT AND CANNON CO. - OHIO handled 1/2 gal --- Listed here is a half gallon whiskey or spirits jug, complete with wire and wooden handle. Embossed in a round shaped slug: THE BOTT AND CANNON CO. / DISTILLERS / AND / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR DEALERS / 269 NORTH HIGH ST. / COLUMBUS, OHIO. Below that at the heel is the number 2. A great damage free OH jug, with only a hint of inside haze or stain. The cork appears to be original, but who knows. It has an amethyst (SCA) tint to it and stands 9 1/4" tall and 5" at wide..... SOLD to the CANNON FAMILY
  7. KC-1 LATTICE and DIAMOND Poison --- A small dark blue beauty, embossed from the shoulder to heel with a cross hatch or lattice and diamond pattern. Half of one side is smooth to accept a label. Sorry, but no stopper for this one. A blown nondug smooth base and damage free bottle standing 3 3/4" tall..... SOLD
  8. RUMFORD / CHEMICAL WORKS --- A medium or lighter teal medicine embossed on two sides of a cathedral panel with the wording at left. Base is embossed with a number '8'. A blown bottle in excellent condition, with only a tiny bit of interior stain (that should disappear with a cleaning), standing 5 7/8" tall..... SOLD

Digger Odell's Volume 2 Bitters lists one like the one offered here as No. 111 and selling in 1996. A bold and beautiful figural that has a smooth base and is damage free, measuring 12 3/4" tall..... 18. WAMPOLE'S / MILK FOOD --- is embossed on one side of this light aquamarine, square, ground top jar. This has always been one of my favorites in our collection for some reason. There is no listing for a H. G. Hough although the bottle appears to be embossed with a 'G' rather than a 'C'. Nevertheless, the Dr. Hough at 82 Square is undoubtedly the right man.
