Great website...especially enjoyed the pictures!
My dad, LCDR Howard L. Fry, was the Supply Officer at Fort Allen from 1966 to 1968.
My older sister, Michelle, was one of the 2 graduating seniors in 1967--Dad warned
her before she and Bill Davis walked down the aisle at graduation, in the chapel,
"just don't say 'I do'!!" He did have a sense of humor! :-)
Does the name Bill VanNortwick ring a bell with anyone?  (I had a terrific crush on him;
he was a corpsman.)

I just looked over the photos on the site - wow! Funny to think of life at Ft. Allen before
we were there. (Ft. Allen had a football team?!) Not many guests are late-timers like
we were, so I hardly recognize any names or faces.
I wanted to add that my step-dad was a CWO-4 and worked at the Com station.
My mom worked at the telephone annex as an operator, civil service employee.
I was a horse nut - rode in all the shows - bowled, played on the women's softball team,
and was very active in school. I also got certified to scuba while I was there. What a life!

Great Find!!
Thanks Google! and Thank you Al. The memories are flooding back. I was at Ft. Allen from
12/64 till 6/66. I was lucky enough to work at the Salinas Receiver site for LTJG Boughton,
Chief Wietzke. I remember John Craig(in the ET shack), big Jim Curry kept the generators
ready for the next outage. After seeing the photos, I remembered Beale and Schneider and
Elsie (Sam's replacement). We raised Sam from a calf and didn't have the heart to butcher
him, so we sold him and bought Steaks with the money. Someone mentioned Jerry Jernigan.
He was from a town near my home in South Carolina. My first crew leader was Houseknetch
or something like that. It was pronounced House'nick.
I was pretty good friends with Charles Townsend and Russ Holbrook.
This has been a lot of fun. I'll be back!

base library - Mrs. Domingaz (sp) was the librarian. I also purchased a landscape painting of
Puerto Rico from I think a Mr. Garcia who was a maintenance engineer at Ft. Allen - I still have
it hanging here in Duluth. Hope

I'm an outsider but had access to Ft Allen as an Army retiree dependent from 69 - 78. I use to enjoy the

route included subscribers from Ft Allen who were waiting for base quarters, so I knew a few squids.
NAVCOMSTA Ft Allen played a key role in joining the Navy in 1978 and retiring 20 years later as a
Cryptologic Technician with two tours in Sabana Seca.

Hello ya'all. I remember my days at Ft Allen all to well. Those were the good old days. I left Ft Allen
in November of 1976 after RMCS White in the Bupers told me that I had to leave! Then the bum told
me at the Pentagon in 1980 that I had to get some sea legs and spend some time on the USS Carl Vinson.
Well, I just retired to avoid that. Went to work for AT&T from June 1980 to OCt 1998 and then retired

My father was a RM,George Stevens. He was stationed at Fort Allen from 10-1972 until sometime
and 1974 (a late comer and short timer).
I remember having my 4th grade class in the BOQ with a pool table in the middle of the class room
because the elementary school was falling in or down. I remember strings and strings of frog eggs
in a fountain on base, great picnics and super parades.
I think it is so neat that you guys do this and get together.
