Dont forget to ID your callsign every ten minutes and at the end of each Contact on the repeater.
This part.. the codes are currently different due to misc. interference by a bootlegger - so call on the air KB3AWQ or N3MFJ if you wish to use the link. Sorry for I/C. When the link is active try to keep transmissions short. The repeater/Link have a 3 minute time out timer. The codes for the link were... 01 to activate the link and the repeater will announce W3AHS Link ON. There is a Link Receive Only Mode which you will probably find its in and that code was 02. "Link receive only" will enable transmissions to be monitored on the link frequency. If someone is talking on the 444.700 or whatever link frequency is active and you want to use the repeater just call for KB3AWQ or N3MFJ to disable the link until your done talking so you can use 147.300 repeater without the extra voices from the link channel. If we are not around then just talk over them, the repeater (147.300) is only listening to the UHF side so if you talk when the UHF is active it wont matter because they wont hear you as long as its in "Link Receive Only". It needs to be put back on "link receive only" after your done. So in other words leave the repeater as you found it. Any questions email me! If you key up the repeater this is considered a one way transmission and this requires an ID as well. If you are testing try to do this on simplex or if you would happen to be doing a test on the repeater simply key up ID your callsign and say test. If you want a signal report then ask for it. (Is there anyone on the repeater for a signal report this is K3XYZ). There is no need to just key the repeater, it hasnt gone anywhere.
Please dont jump on the mic as soon as the other party lets up in case someone would want to jump in or if they have an emergency "plus you might break your mic."
Please treat the repeater as if it were your own. This is the key phrase.
Use language that is supposed to be used for the amateur bands, no "bad" language or CB crap as some people like to use. Remember there are others listening on scanners and kids listening on their parents radios etc. Keep the hobby going with a good name.
If it is possible to switch to Simplex then as always that is best, this way you are not tieing up the repeater for those who may need to go through the repeater.
This is all common sense and is very little to ask for, if you have an Amateur Radio License calls of Technician Class License or higher you may operate on this repeater and everyone took a test to get their license so everyone should be familar with how things work and if you don't then listen for a while to see how things work. By the way this "IS" an OPEN Repeater.
