Day 2
We survived another day.  Alexis cried instantly when we got into her school but from what I was told, did a little better today and was able to be distracted when she started asking about me or home or her teddy.  She didn't eat much at lunch and only slept 50 minutes but like this website, she too is a work in progress in school.

I didn't know what I would be facing when I got to work today because I was going to be meeting the acting spa supervisor (who is 18) and I've heard can have a little attitude.  Things went well, she didn't know I was going to be there today so she didn't know what she was suppose to show me.  Today I figured would be more of a relaxing day and feel each other out.  She left early because of the heat in the place and I told her it was fine because I was there but if she put herself in for certain hours, I expect that she works them.  After she complains about not getting as many hours, she leaves 2 hours early - that's youth for you!  Hopefully I can get more information about things and an idea of what I can order and share my thoughts about stuff.  I heard we have manager meetings on Wednesday but no one said when or where - yep, that's how things are there.

We survived!
Yesterday was the first day of day care and the first day of work for me.  I brought Alexis to the school and she said "my school" and I said yes it is.  I parked and when I went to get her out I asked if she was ready to go play with her new friends and she said no.  We walked into her classroom and she started crying saying "mama home".  It killed me and broke my heart.  I was running late and had to leave and the teacher said "lets go to the window and wave bye  to mommy".  I did it, she waved bye and balled her eyes out and fell to the ground - I think that made it worse.  I carried my cell phone with me incase I got the call to pick her up, which I never did.

I started work and thought I was going to be late but with some speedy driving, I got there just in time.  The owner wasn't there so I was told by the G.M. just to go to the spa a peek around.  I did that for a half an hour until she showed up.  I then was with her for 2 hours, talking about the spa and hotel and then I was with the GM for a couple hours, talking about the same kind of stuff.  There was no one working in the spa so no one could tell me anything about what was really going on in there and how they do things - that will be today.

Since there was nothing I could really do, I left at 2 and picked Alexis up.  She didn't even see me when I walked in, it was diaper changing time.  Her teacher, when almost done, said someone was there for her - did she want to see?  Alexis said yes, saw me and started to well up and said "mama home".  She gave me a big hug and was ready to leave but I didn't just rush out.  I talked to her teachers a little to see how she did and they said good, just cried off and on.  She only slept an hour but she ate all her lunch minus the meatballs from her meatball sub.  I was very proud of her, hopefully she will continue to get more comfortable at school and love being there.

Getting ready for Monday!
Well, Alexis had an introduction to her day care on Tuesday and then today (Thursday).  On Tuesday I got to stay and observe and she started off fine but then once outside, I think it was too much and started crying.  I stayed out of the way and didn't go to her, that was tough.  We were there for a little over an hour, just like today.  Today I had to leave her there and she instantly started to cry, I think she realized they were getting ready to go outside.  I watched from the viewing station and she was staying close to Miss. Suzanna but then would go off and explore.  I left and returned about an hour later and as soon as she saw me she started crying.  I asked Miss. Suzanna how she was and she said she would cry off and on.  Hopefully she will feel more comfortable and being there all day for snack, lunch and nap will help her feel more comfortable.  I will be starting work on Monday at 9 AM and figure out what my schedule will be for the rest of the week.  If I only work until 3 or 4 I will just head up and pick Alexis up so she doesn't have to be there for 9 hours.  Eventually, once she gets more comfortable there, I can start working out after work if I get out early but I will wait on that until things with her are better.  I will let you all know how she does on Monday!

Catching up
Well, about a year ago Fred and I decided to move out of Lowell to give Alexis a better life in a more rural area.  We sold our house in Lowell and bought a new one in Tyngsboro.  Two weeks before closing Fred was  laid off from Standard Electric and then found a job less than 2 weeks later at a place called Boston Kitchen Distributors.  That company then fell on hard times and he was laid off again.  Once again he found another job within 2 weeks and this time it was at a place called Maptech.  The good thing about this job is that it pays more and there is more responsibility and the warehouse is his to do with as he decides.  The bad thing is it is almost 90 miles round trip and he wasn't told when hired that the company wasn't doing well and hasn't made any money in about 10 years.

For me I changed jobs over a year ago because of conflicts of interest.  I became a massage therapist at a place called Serenity which is in Tyngsboro, about 5-6 minutes from our house.  With all that's been going on in life and my feelings of depression being home with Alexis, I decided I needed to go back to work full time.  I found a job as a spa manager at an Inn here in Tyngsboro.  I will be starting there on Monday, 6/18/07 and am very nervous of what lies ahead of me.  Alexis will be attending day care for the first time and that is going to be tough but I know it will be good for her.  At her school she can learn and interact with kids her age and I will bascially be working to pay for it and have a little left over.  Day care is so expensive!

Monte had to be put down because he was having kidney stone problems again and couldn't urinate.  It was a hard decision to make but he was too old for another surgery and I didn't want to do that to him again.  We picked up his body later that day and buried him in our back yard.  Fred got to say good bye and that weekend, so didn't my parents.  He was a wonderful member of the family and he really will be missed.
