Another week gone by
I have to give a big thanks to my parents for watching Alexis last Monday while Fred and I were working.  Grandma and Bapa got to take Alexis to her new school for a little visit and I thought it would be good for my mom to be able to see where her granddaughter would be attending.  It's always good to get a teacher's opinion!  They seemed very impressed and were able to look around while Alexis was with her class.  Alexis will be starting her new school on Friday and I hope she will be okay, sometimes she doesn't do well with change.

I made dentist appointments for Fred and I on the 7th and asked him if we could play hookey from work and spend the day together.  He said sure.  I figured we could drop Alexis off at school and then go out for breakfast.  Our appointments are in the afternoon so we have the morning together.  I hope things will go well.

Fred is at a gun show this morning, he wants to get some fitted ear protection (they are much more comfortable then some of the other stuff we've tried).  We have an open house today from 2-4 and I have the second floor to finish cleaning which I will be doing a little later.  It has been snowing a little and I hope it wont stop people from coming.  The past 2 we've done have had no one show up which is such a pain.

Just remember, 1 week to go until the Super Bowl - I hope we win!!!

For those over 30 (very good)

Dear THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD,

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what, with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda! And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it soeasy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter...with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids' and the graphics sucked! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And therewere no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no onscreen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your rear and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little snots!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled!!!!!!!!!

You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980! Oh yea, and a seatbelt was Mom throwing her arm across your chest every time she hit the brakes.

Regards,

The over 30 Crowd

Another win last night!
The Patriots won again last night, which means they are 17-0 this season.  Not too shabby.  I had a tough night sleeping the previous night so unfortunately I fell asleep during the game.  I hate night games, come 9 PM my body is ready to go to sleep and there is no stopping it.

I went to Little Angels in Tyngsboro this past week and got a tour of the place.  It seems very nice and is actually a school which means she will be getting an education as well as care during the day.  I hope the transition will go well, she will be starting there February 1st.  February curriculum for the 3 year olds will be : color - pink, shape - heart, number - 5, Letters - L - O, themes - Exercise / Healthy Habits / Kindness / Valentine's Day.  Every Month is a new color, shape, number and series of letters.

Alexis' elbow is fine, you could never tell she hurt it.  She is very loving and wants to take care of everyone.  I hope this kind of emotion stays.  We are due for another big snow storm starting around midnight tonight.  Luckily we have had some warmer weather this past week so a lot of the old snow has melted.  Alexis loves to play in the snow and we took her sledding a couple weeks ago to a park in Nashua - she loved it.  We need to get another sled so daddy can go by himself - he can be such a kid at times!

Have a good week!

Oh, the Chargers beat the Colts so it looks like the Chargers will be in New England to go against us.  I like this match up.   Sorry Peyton for losing - boo hoo!

Happy New Year??
Well, Fred and I had a wonderful time going out for dinner at Chili's and then going to Chunky's in Nashua, NH to watch "I am Legend".  The movie was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.  My parents had a good time playing with their granddaughter and had the opportunity to have dinner with her and put her to bed.  We all stayed up (kind of) until midnight and then we all watched the ball drop and I got my New Years kiss.

New years day was good, Alexis started coughing again which worried me a little.  Fred went out to get gas and a hot chocolate and when he got home Alexis wanted to play with her daddy.  Everything was great until Fred was swinging her like he always has and he felt something pop.  He instantly put her down and she was balling and holding her left arm.  She wouldn't move her arm but could move her fingers.  After trying to see what might be wrong and seeing that it wasn't getting any better, we took our baby to the emergency room.  After waiting about 2 1/2 hours she was seen and told it is a very common injury to kids at this age called "nursemaid's elbow".  Because the muscles aren't fully developed in the elbow until around 5, it is easy to dislocate a child's elbow - like grabbing their arm to prevent them from running into the street could do it.  It took a minute to pop it back in and within 5 minutes she was using her arm.

Tuesday night she spiked a fever and I got conjunctivitis.  What a way to start the new year!  I took her to see her doctor and the perscription she was on for her cough 2 weeks ago didn't solve the problem so they gave us a nebulizer and she has to be on it every 4 hours until her cough is gone.  Fred got to stay home with her today, she seems to be feeling better and I think she finally broke her fever.  At least she is eating and drinking more today.  I can't wait to see her, I miss being with her when she is sick - I feel like I am not being a good mom but it's great that Fred is also stepping up and helping out.  I have to work tonight for at least a half hour at the spa, I am going to be beat and Alexis is not going to be very happy that I will have to leave again.

Keep us in your prayers that this cold she has goes away quickly.  We also are having an open house on Sunday, I hope someone comes and falls in love with it and wants to put in an offer.  I really want to find something smaller - something cozy!  That would be nice.
