Police and elected officials in Provincetown, Massachusetts condone HATE!

Barry Scott's nose hours after his injury. Barry Scott's swollen face days later. One of many bruises from kicks to Barry's legs. Richard Hall also beaten in P-town

Barry Scott of "The Lost 45s" had his face smashed head first into the side of a house and was kicked repeatedly while not resisting arrest for an illegal '50 foot' noise violation, upon FIRST meeting Provincetown police officers and responding to their demand to shut down a backyard 40th birthday party at 10:20pm on Saturday, July 14th, 2007.

Police state he said "We hate the Police" on the microphone, which is a lie. Horrified witnesses heard no such thing, they only say he was not resisting arrest and was asking untrained summer Police Officers Anthony Bova and Michael Barone not to hurt his 5'4" 130 lb frame. To cover up their brutality, the Provincetown Police pressed frivolous criminal charges against Mr. Scott that he continues to fight. Although never in trouble with the law at age 44, they did not take a mug shot; because the photo would have clearly shown their brutality. Another officer, Thomas Steele, is clearly heard lying repeatedly on the 9-1-1 tapes.

The town has now told its Police Chief to step down and has asked for training on these and other hate crimes issues, but the charges against Barry Scott remain. The police refuse to release the summer employment records of the officers involved and it is widely known that one of them was involved with a few violent arrests this summer. A brand new Chief started his job in May 2008 and perhaps he'll finally do the right thing.

The woman who was the only complainant in the above party is Yvonne Cabral, owner of the P-Town trolley, who started the anti-gay marriage petition in town. Due to a police 'dispatch error' she was incorrectly identified by name, address and social security number for a few weeks, until the truth that she was the culprit came out in the newspaper!

To show your disgust for this corruption of the law and disregard for the Constitution of the United States, please ask Martha Coakley, the Attorney General, to investigate this crime perpetrated by the Provincetown Police and immediately suspend the subsequent criminal charges that have cost Barry Scott tens of thousands of dollars to fight.

The Massachusetts Attorney General can be reached at (617) 727-2200 or via e-mail: Martha Coakley.

Many other incidents have occured during the past year including Richard Hall--beaten and left unconscious by thugs who called him 'faggot.' Although he had all his valuables, the Provincetown Police did not look for perpetrators nor classify it as a hate crime. The Attorney General's office ended up paying his medical bills to cover Provincetown's failures.

Bryan Richardson, held under an illegal protective custody and injured in jail while Provincetown Police did nothing to help him. He soiled his pants while lying on the jail floor for hours, unable to move from a back spasm.

Daniel Coburn had rocks thrown at him and was called 'faggot.' When reported to the P-town Police, they arrested him for an outstanding vehicle ticket. They later said the use of 'faggot' was protected under free speech. Oddly enough, although Barry Scott did not say 'we hate the police'--that was NOT protected as free speech in Provincetown.

Artist David Jones, beaten by the cops, pled to a criminal charge so he wouldn't have to face huge legal bills and an unrelenting police department. He says he did nothing wrong.

Another man had a bike thrown at him at the AIDS ride; one was unnecessarily maced; still another was taken off the street and held until morning without charges in the P-town jail...his friends thought he had disappeared. Numerous other incidents have come to light where the victim is too nervous to report it or wants to remain private.

To learn more about Provincetown's year of hate--including that of Barry Scott (the only person with criminal charges pressed against him to cover brutality), please read through the following articles.

Send this link to anyone you feel might interested. Any U.S. citizen can follow Police orders, be beaten and face frivolous charges unless this corruption is fought.
