The Canadians come to town

On the evening of June 3, 2003 UP train AKSGP arrived in Hearne with a pair of CN units for power. AKSGP is split in Hearne to form ASGKB (Seger to Kirby[San Antonio]) with the remaining AKSGP (Kansas City to Galena Park) going to Houston. Today's split formed two trains, each with a single CN unit for power. Here is the result:

AKSGP moves slowly along the Giddings Sub at milepost 4 with trains ahead
CN 5336 passes. The light favors a rear shot.
AKSGP cruises along looking for a favorable aspect from the signal at milepost 5. There are numerous trains in front of him today going to both Houston and San Antonio.

ASGKB slows for a stop at Control Point HL120 in Hearne.
CN 2451 is the sole power today.
Crew is receiving permission to pass the signal at HL120 (background). Foreground signal is for Austin Jct (CP HL121).
The ASGKB changed crews at Seger so he just slips past the Hearne yard office without stopping. This spot is refered to as "New Main - Back Door"

Illinois power in College Station

The MHOKC of June 10 departed Houston with a nice pair of Illinios Central SD70s for power. MHOKC is an evening train in College Station and June 10 was no exception. Here he is slowing to take Bryan siding to meet 3 southbounders out of Hearne. He eventually met the MNPEW, AKSGP, and MDAEW at Bryan.

Solid IC power is rare. A pair is SD70s is awesome.
