Here are some of the details of the ama and aka system that I use for my sea kayak sailing.

This is the saddle or yoke I developed and built.  The yoke fits the deck curavature of the boat between the rear of the cockpit and the front of the rear hatch.  The base of the yoke is two layers of tortured marine plywood laminated together.  The main part of the oke is two pieces of pine blocked apart by about 1 inch spacers.  The surface of the yoke that touches the boat is covered with marine trailer bunk carpet to reduce scratching.  There are two stainless u bolts that hold on the center piece of tubing from the folbot ama/aka system.  The Folbot system is linked here:

The center tube of the folbot system has a thru hole at the center of the piece.  This is bolted through the yoke to keep the tube from rotating.  At the upper outer ends of the yoke are two plastic marine cleats.  These cleats have four feet of ultra low stretch sail line (about 4 mm) attached to them.  When the yoke is in position on the boat, the line from one cleat goes forward and under a deck line fitting immediately in front of the yoke on that side of the boat, back up to the yoke, around it, and down and through a deck line fitting immediately behind the yoke.  The line then comes back up to the cleat and is cleated off.  These lines keep the yoke attached to the boat and work very well.  I have reinforced the deck line fittings on the kayak to prevent them being pulled loose from the boat.
