TJ & LJ: Busted
By

Daniel sat in the recliner watching the news on the television with half an eye, the other
half was on the newspaper in his hand. His other eye was keeping a careful watch on the
toddler who was sitting in the middle of the floor working on his coordination with
leggos. It was an innocent and peaceful scene. Naturally it didnt last.
And in other news, a strange incident at a pediatric clinic have police
baffled, the newsman was saying. Apparently a strange man ran into the clinic
and kissed a nurse senseless before running out again. This footage from the security
camera shows the event
Daniel glanced at the television then looked at the paper. Suddenly his head snapped up
with such force, something cracked painfully. He stared at the television and the security
footage. No. It couldnt be. Its not possible.
He looked at Toddler Jack playing innocently. That was the clinic they took the toddler
to. Even as little as he was he responded to the nice nurse who
oh no.
What did you do?! he yelled completely out of character for his regular role.
Jack looked up at Daniel with wide-eyed innocence. Me? he asked working the
brown eyes. Been hewe wif da leggos.
Bullsh*t, Daniel swore. He was instantly out of his chair and snatched up the
phone. Using the editorial ether he connected to his counterpart. Dan, what is your
Jack doing?
He listened to the answer. Sleeping? he asked. How long?
Is that normal?
Yes, 23 hours is excessive unless hes been doing something hes not
supposed to.
Did you see the news? Turn on your TV.
Daniel snatched the toddler by scruff of the neck as he tried to sneak by. The next moment
he was holding the phone away from his ear as the stream of obscenities issued forth with
such graphic detail the air around the phone turned slight blue. He would have to remember
that particular grouping of languages for future use.
Carefully he gently hung up the slightly melted handset. The blue eyes were smoldering in
a non-romantic manner as he stared at the squirming two-year-old.
Busted, he said ominously.
Toddler Jack winced. But it wath wowth it
. He muttered. He knew Little
Jack was going to get it too.
