IS YOUR DEPARTMENT PUTTING UNDER-TRAINED FIREFIGHTERS ON FIRST DUE APPARATUS?

DOES YOUR DEPARTMENTS FIREFIGHTERS TRAINING MEET NFPA MINIMUM NATIONAL STANDARDS?

Check out the web links and related articles and find out what happens to untrained, or under-trained firefighters, and their prospected officers who knowingly risk their own lives, the individual firefighters lives, and the lives of the public they serve by putting unqualified undertrained firefighters on the front lines.

FACT!

As of January 1st 2009, Indiana State Minimum Mandatory Firefighter Training Requirements still DO NOT MEET the National Minimum Standards as defined in NFPA 1001 Professional Qualifications for Firefighters 2005 edition!

Although many could “assume” the worst!

This Firefighter knew EXACTLY what he had, the Fire Conditions, and HIS JOB!

What appears to be a fully involved room that the firefighter was climbing into was IN FACT NOT YET INVOLVED! The Fire seen in the window is in-fact “Roll-Over” from the fire in the hall way. The Firefighter entered on to a BED pushed up against the window.

The Firefighter recognized the signs and conditions as he is a Captain on a Truck Company with the Indianapolis Fire Department and is Very Well Trained in V.E.S (Vent, Enter, Search)

CLOSE CALL,,,,,,YES!!!!!

CORRECT CALL,,,,, ABSOLUTELY!!!

VENT, ENTER, SEARCH!

A victim had been reported in the structure, and was later found in that room (on the Floor next to the bed) out of reach of the Captain.
