Access control is accomplished in two ways:
    (a) Implied control because your users or family members understand that all their
website visits and messaging can be logged and viewed by you in realtime.
    (b) Physical control in which you can globally restrict access to the Internet
via disablement of specific protocols, website blocking or tailor an access profile for each
    client machine.
GLOBAL ACCESS RESTRICTION
From the DAEMONs Display you will find a button next to each protocol port.
The label of this button is "Disable -protocol-".
You can disable access via a specific protocol by toggling on this button.
Note that the protocol is disabled for all users on your LAN.
WEBSITE ACCESS PROHIBITION
Using a text editor, edit the file "url.psdata" in PServer's logging directory.
List the website that you wish to prohibit. One website per line.
To remove a website from the prohibition list, simply delete the line.
Example:
    www.google.com
    www.cnn.com
    www.yahoo.com
Save and File the list.
Optionally, you can go to the Logging Panel, find the website and click on it. The line
will become highlighted. Then go to the View Pulldown and select "Deny website access".
Next, either use the "Apply" button or Quiesce then Resume the proxyserver.
The website is now restricted from browser access.
TAILORING INDIVIDUAL ACCESS PROFILES
From the General Display you will find a button labelled
    "Internet Protocol User Access"
Clicking this button will bring up another window which will list each client computer that
has accessed the Internet via the proxy server.
Along with each computer name is a string of zeros and ones. This represents their access profile.
The format of the "access profile" is:
clientname : HTTP, FTP, TELNET, SMTP, POP3, SOCKS, EmailIn, EmailOut
Protocol Permission:
A one (1) or checkmark denotes "access allowed" to protocol. A zero (0) denotes "access denied".
Email Capture:
A one (1) denotes "copy email and forward". A zero (0) denotes "do not copy and forward email".
A copy of the captured message will be directed to the email address specified under the "Communication Panel".
Outgoing messages will appear in the receiver's mailbox with the Subject Line of: PServer
Incoming messages will appear in the receiver's mailbox with the Subject Line of: PServer
Adding Client Names to Permissions:
The clientnames will be added AUTOMATICALLY as new clients use the proxy server.
By Default each time a new client uses the proxy for the first time it is given
access to ALL protocols and does not have email copied.
You can change this by setting up the client profile ahead of time.
You can manually add a new client by typing its name in the TextField, then
checking off each box that represents an access you want to give the client.
Follow this by clicking the "UPDATE" button.
To modify a particular client simply select the entry from the ListBox. The client
name and permissions will be marked as such in the CheckBoxes below. Then you
can check or uncheck the protocols as needed, followed by clicking the "UPDATE"
button. The permissions (or denials) take effect immediately.
