Manual Operations
From the PServer window select the "Service" pulldown.
Choose "Quiesce"
Give the application about 5 seconds to shutdown all service operations.
Now, the proxy is in a suspended state.
Your LAN is effectively shutdown from the Internet (aside from the gateway machine which
always has access until you sever the modem or DSL link)
From this state you can reselect:
Minimum and Maximum tasks,
Change listening ports for each protocol,
Disable or Enable protocol services
(The above options are not alterable while the proxyserver is ACTIVE and RUNNING)
After making your changes, choose "Resume" from the service pulldown.
PServer will re-commence proxy operations with the changes in effect.
All of your networked computers can again converse with the Internet.
Automated Operations
From the General Tuning window locate Quiesce TOD and Resume TOD.
Next to each label is a set of spin buttons marked "hrs" and "mins".
Set the time of day in which you desire the application to be suspended or quiesced;
and the time of day when you wish the proxyserver operation to be resumed.
If the time is set to be the same in both sets of spin buttons then no action will be
taken by the product.
Example:
Quiesce operations at 10:00pm and Resume at 7:30am
Quiesce TOD 22 hrs 00 mins
Resume TOD 7 hrs 30 mins
Using the automatic scheduler does not affect use of the manual operations. You may continue to use the manual operation at any time.
