Cecelia has been training dogs since 1979 and teaching dog obedience since 1981. She received the Instructor of the Year Award in 1990 and the Gaines Dog World Award for outstanding service to the dog world in 1991. PERSONAL TRAINING BELIEFS AND PRINCIPALS As a result of the many seminars and training sessions I have attended I am not hooked on any one method of training. I understand that there is no cookie cutter approach to dog training. I believe that every dog and handler is different. The relationship and partnership between each dog and handler is also different. As a dog trainer, you must be prepared to adapt your training methods for the dog and dog-handler team. It is important to have different techniques and options in your training toolbox and not to rule out any technique. Above all, as a dog trainer a person has to learn to "read" their dog so that they use the right technique for that individual dog to maximize the likelihood of success. QUALIFYING CREDENTIALS I have been
training and showing my own dogs for 21 years. My interests in the dog
fancy goes beyond obedience training as evidenced in the titles I have
earned in the past. As a result of the working partnerships that I
have developed with my dogs I have earned the following American and
Canadian titles: |
|
AMERICAN TITLES 7
Companion Dog Titles |
CANADIAN TITLES 2
Companion Dog

Over the past 27 years, I have instructed obedience
classes for Dauphin Dog Training Club (DDTC), Obedience Training Club of
Harrisburg (OTCH), Swatara Township Recreation Department, and have owned
and operated K-9 Attitude Adjustments Obedience School for the past 10 years. I have learned from all of the dogs and handlers that I have met
and worked with as an instructor. In addition, I have
served as DDTC's training director and on DDTC's Training Advisory
Committee in various positions. I have been an active member of the
National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors ( NADOI) since
1984.
Dick has been training for 16 years and has been teaching for the last 6 years. He entered the obedience show ring for the first time is September 1999 at the Golden Retriever National Specialty in Warwick, Rhode Island with Seek and Find Devlish Devon who took 1st place in Novice A. Devon and Dick went on to earn her CD in 3 straight shows taking 1st place in each show. Congratulations to Devon a.k.a., Baby Baby, a Triple Crown Winner! |
