Our "adopted"
little bro, Stewart Jennings took loving care of us. He is almost done with nursing school
at the University of Maryland. He drove up to NYC in the midst of exams to be with us. And, he aced his exams! We are so
proud of him.
On the day
of our surgery, the NBC cameramen, with apologies, made Stewart sit in a corner of Dr. Antell's waiting room so he wouldn't
be visible to the time-lapse camera!
We spent two nights at the Lucerne, very
lovely, on the upper West Side near Zabars. We simply took taxis across the Park to get to and from Dr. Antell's office. Georgette
was comfortably ensconced in our suite, knitting and eating rice pudding, while I, Gail, was still waiting my turn in the
O.R., no food or drink permitted.
"Piece-of-Cake!" were
Georgette's first words to Gerie as she rested in Recovery and Gerie was on her way to the O.R.
Incredibly, Georgette never needed so much as a Tylenol for pain!
Thank you, Lauren, our teen neighbor,
for sitting with "the kids" while we were in New York. Knowing the boys were happy and content allowed us to focus
our attention on the surgery.
According to Georgette, our house is part kennel, part convent!
Danny, in the middle in the picture above, graced our lives for nearly ten years.
In February, though, Cushing's Syndrome took his life as it did his half sister Gabby's the previous summer.
We have a new family member - Juliette, pictured to the left. She was adopted from our local shelter in June of this
year.
