NBC's Campbell Brown greeted us with warmth and
enthusiasm.
Dr. Darrick E. Antell is
a renowned Park Ave plastic surgeon. He practices the science of medicine with the hands of an artist
and the heart of a humanitarian.
Dr. Antell is very easy to talk to; he and his staff are deeply
devoted to their patients. Dr. Antell contributes to his profession by teaching and mentoring students and by publishing and
presenting the results of his ongoing research at conferences worldwide. Dr. Antell lives in Connecticut with his wife, also
a physician, and their five children!
Our surgery was done with local anesthesia and mild sedation. It's
safer and easier for the patient than general anesthesia; we slept through the procedures yet faced far less risk than general
anesthesia entails. We all woke readily with no side effects.
Dr. Mikhail Zalmanov, Diplomate of
the American Board of Anesthesiology, worked with Dr. Antell during our surgeries. Thank you, Dr. Z, for your kindness and
vigilance.
Also extremely reassuring and able was Nurse Kathy.
Thank you, Kathy, for your smiles and gentle care, despite your own migraine, throughout the marathon day.
Thank you Sarah - records and research,
reception, office administration - your presence is a balm to the nerves of jittery patients and their families. You're as
sweet and perceptive as you are bright and beautiful.
Thank you also Brenda, Dr.
Antell's nurse - actually a dentist - as well as his office manager and right arm. Brenda, you are indispensible! You facilitated
every step of our adventure with compassion and professionalism, and we are very grateful.
Above, we waited with producer's assistant Chimene Williams
for Star Jones Reynolds and Al Roker to complete their long - long - long interview.
"Star gets to tell everyone she was on the Today Show with the Madak Triplets,"
quipped a friend!
Like Dr. Antell, Chimene graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Dr. Antell has privileges to perform plastic surgery at Lenox
Hill Hospital, which is directly across the street from his office. Hospital privileges and Board certification in
plastic surgery are among the criteria doctors suggest when considering your surgeon: even if
your surgery will take place in an office O.R., hospital privileges mean the physician meets stringent standards set by his
peers. Dr. Antell has been recognized as one of New York's Best Plastic Surgeons on multiple occasions.
