How far is the beach house to the ocean?

We are about 800 yards to the ocean (two blocks).

Are there any streets to cross to get to the beach?

There is one street to cross (Duck Road).  At East Dogwood and Duck Road there is a stop light with a pedestrian button to cross.  You can also cross at Hickory Trail and Duck Road.

Where is the beach house located?

It is in the town of Southern Shores on the Northern Outer Banks. The town is situated between Kitty Hawk and Duck. 

What kind of beach is it, busy public, private?

Southern Shores is in a planned community and only owners or their guests (renters) can use the beach so you won't find it overly crowded.  There is no on street parking in the town so the beach only contains people within walking distance to the beach.  Parking passes are handed out to owners to regulate the 2 beach areas that have parking available.  Shore Delight is within walking distance to the beach.  If you rent you will be able to get a loan of the Parking Pass.  This will allow you to park at the Hillcrest parking area and area parks.

I was wondering if there are any local bars or clubs around the area?

It is a resort area, so there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area.  Many have live entertainment.  Pick up a Coast magazine when you arrive on the Outer Banks and it will tell you what bars have live entertainment and the name of the band and type of music they play.   

I am curious how we would go about reserving the home for a week?

If you are interested in renting Shore Delight, e-mail me with tentative dates you may be interested in.  If a date you are interested in is available and you would like to reserve, just e-mail me that you would like to reserve and send me your telephone number and the best time to reach you.  Or call me at (732) 257-7581.  When agreement is reached, we ask that one half the rental amount be sent to secure the rental.  Balance to be paid 45 days prior to occupancy.  Please add a $250.00 security deposit with the second payment.  After all money has been paid and a lease agreement signed, I will deliver to you the keys to the cottage.  The security deposit will be refunded to you after an inspection of the property and the return of the keys and parking pass (usually with-in 30 days).  (Please read customs and courtesies). 

Please describe the accommodations?

It has three bedrooms, one with a twin trundle bed (2 twin beds or one queen bed) and two with queen size beds.  There is also a queen size sleep sofa in the family room. The cottage also has 3 full baths and a fully equipped kitchen. It has central air, microwave, dishwasher, 5 color TV's with cable, VCR, DVD and video library, washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, phone, answering machine, reverse osmosis water filter, and ceiling fans in all rooms.  We also have a booster chair, highchair, umbrella stroller, and a portacrib for small children.  There is an outside shower with hot and cold running water.  There are beach chairs, beach umbrella, boogie boards, and wagon that can be used by the quests.  The house sits on a 1/2 acre landscaped lot.  There is a playground 1 1/2 blocks away.

When does the rental period start?  

It rents Sat. to Sat.  Check in time is 4:00 P.M.  Check out is 12:00 P.M.  Sometimes in the off season you can pick your check-in day.  Ask me.  There are also partial weeks available.

Are there golf courses in the area?

There is a private golf course in Southern Shores that takes non-members on a space available basis.  There are also public golf courses in Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Corolla, and on the mainland there are five golf courses within 10 miles of the cottage.  To check out the golf courses in the area click here.
