As a congregation, Good Shepherd believes that everything we have is a gift from God. With that understanding we are working toward giving 10% of our income away to serve God in our community and the world.
Help for the Homeless:
Currently we participate in the Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network. This is a program to house homeless families helping them to remain employed and in school as they seek housing. This an interfaith project in which different groups rotate weeks of service. We host the families five weeks a year, chaperoning overnight, and preparing meals for the families, playing games with the children.
Girl Scouts
We host four Girl Scout troops in our building during the school year and the monthly leaders meeting.
Camperships
Through generous contributions, we paid for four two-week scholarships to Camp Bement, providing four children from our parish with enriching spiritual experiences.
Crop Walk
In the past two years we have raised the largest amount of money to fight hunger of all of the participating churches and have won the coveted “Golden Sneaker” award.
United Thank Offering
Each year we give thanks for the blessings in our lives by giving to the UTO. These monies are given in grants to Episcopal work throughout the nation.
Parishioners also support Habitat for Humanity (building housing for low income families), Heifer International (giving farm animals to help poor families in the USA and in developing nations), and The Relay for Life (raising awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for a cure).
