May 8th the 764th AC&W
Squadron was re-designated the 764th Radar Squadron (SAGE). The unit
was assigned to the Bangor Air Defense Sector, 35th Air Division, of the Air Defense Command.
An Organizational Emblem was authorized the 764th Radar Squadron (Sage)
ORGANIIATIONAL EMBLEM: 764TH RADAR SQUADRON (SAGE)
SIGNIFICANCE: The emblem is symbolic of the Squadron
and the Air Force colors, golden yellow and ultramarine blue, are used. The color blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater
of Air Force operations, and yellow to the sun and excellence of personnel in assigned duties. The radar dome and radio tower
denote the operational functions of the Squadron and the lightning bolts indicate the far reaching and instantaneous capabilities
of the ADC network of which the unit is a part.
MOTTO: AEROSPACE DEFENSE IS OUR BUSINESS
DESCRIP'T'ION: On a blue disc bordered yellow,
a white radar dome surmounted by a red radio tower arise in pale between two yellow lightning flashes chevron wise. Attached above the disc a blue scroll edged yellow and inscribed “Aerospace Defense is our Business”
in yellow letters.
MODIFICATION: The emblem was later modified with
inscription “764 RADAR SQ (ADC).
