Julia
Domna came from a family of Syrian priests of the Sun god, Elagabal
(El-Gabal). She was the wife of Septimus Severus and the mother of
Caracalla and Geta. Crafty and scheming, but also well educated and
erudite, she struggled to maintain harmony between her two bickering
sons. She was ultimately unsuccessful and, tragically, witnessed the
murder of her younger son, Geta, by Caracalla, the older.
