Julia Paula

Julia Cornelia Paula, a member of the illustrious Cornelius family and daughter of a Praetorian Prefect, was the first wife of Elagabalus. The marriage was arranged by Julia Mamaea in an attempt to ameliorate the growing discontent with the 15-year-old Elagabalus' exotic sexual and religious practices. Their marriage was very brief. There were divorced after one year and Julia Paula returned to private life.
