Scooba's CHARGING CONNECTOR

CHARGING CONNECTOR

When an owner wishes to charge Scooba's battery while it is still connected to the robot, the charging power-supply must be connected to the receptacle shown in Figure 1. Its location does not stand out during casual inspection of Scooba; and the reason for that is the connector is covered by a light-blue colored, 'rubber' flap. In addition, its position is marked only by a simple arrow-icon (no words at all); and the arrow is difficult to notice due to its low contrast with the chassis color. No matter, its location is well illustrated on p.10 of the Owners-Manual!

The view is of Scooba's left side, just forward of the drive-wheel. Notice the miniature coaxial connector of the Roomba's has been abandoned and replaced by a five- position receptacle (probably a 5-pole DIN type); in which only three contacts are used. By assigning clock-dial positions of 12 O'clock, 3 O'clock and 6 O'clock to the three active sockets, function assignments are: +22Vdc at "12", feed-back control at "3", and RTN at "6".
