The Organizers:

This dance week was run for 4 years as a not-for-profit venture by members of the Norfolk, Virginia contradance community with Nigel Clarke of the King's School, Ely joining us and handling registration and local arrangements in the last year. We did not run the event in 2008 due to the recession, and did not run it in 2009 due to construction at the venue.  We have many years of experience between us dancing, calling, playing and organizing local dances and major events.  We ran highly successful dance weeks in Ely in April 2004 with Nightingale and Cis Hinkle calling, in 2005 with Wild Asparagus and George Marshall calling, and in 2006 and 2007 with Airdance and Lisa Greenleaf calling.

This year we have a Transatlantic Committee. Gwyn & Jennifer Williams, and Leon Clancy, who are responsible for making arrangements with the performers and for publicity, are being joined by Ros Batchelor from York, England, aided by husband John. Both are keen dancers from the UK, and in particular will be taking the lead for the event. They will add their local knowledge and expertise and make the week even more of a treat!!

Additional local help will come from Adam Hughes, Ruth Hawksley and Peter Giles.  We are also always available and eager to answer your questions either by phone or by e-mail.

In England we are joined by many friends and volunteers who heartily welcome this group to their beautiful City of Ely and lend rich local knowledge. The title "City" in the UK is used for any town with a cathedral.
