(1785) #3 Dock Street, vacant or residents would not give name

(1785) #4 Dock Street, Alexander, James

These entries refer to what is today known as Man Full of Trouble Tavern, which despite also having a door on Spruce Street (the only street door today) appears in the 1790 numbering with only a Dock Street address.
This, theoretically, is the easternmost end of Dock Street. The odd nature of the street, the shape of it and its ending at the waterfront as it does, makes it likely that Biddle differed with MacPherson as to where Dock Street ended and the waterfront buildings began, which would explain why there are two addresses further east. This is precisely the sort of difference in assumptions that makes reconciling the directories more difficult.
