Drinker's Court

Drinker's Court was off the south side of Union Street (now Delancey) between 2nd and 3rd Sts. The 1823 directory specifies that it ran south from #66 Union St (modern #236 Delancey). This street should not be confused with Drinker’s Alley, which ran from #108 N. Front St. to #119 N. 2nd St. The Court was built shortly after 1765, when bricklayer John Drinker bought the land from Letitia Pryor, for rental purposes. Today the tiny houses mostly still stand, though the interior walls have been gutted to make them all a part of the Delancey Street houses on either side.
