Duke Street, or Artillery Lane

Duke Street, also known as Artillery Lane, was a small street in the Northern Liberties. In the 18th century it ran from Front to 2nd Street, just south of Green Street. Between the cutting-through of Spring Garden Street and the construction of Interstate 95, it has been obliterated. It was not covered by Francis White, and so the only listings are those of John MacPherson in 1785 and Clement Biddle in 1791.

SOUTH SIDE

Because there are no matchups on the south side, the 1785/1791 alignments are speculative, based on the slender thread of a corresponding jump in numbers in each numbering system, from #17 to #23 in 1785 and #28 to #40 in 1791.
