1924 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1924 Converse Family Reunion (13th Annual) was held on 20 August 1924 at Pontiac, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows: At the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Converse of Pontiac, Michigan, the 13th annual reunion of the Converse family was held. There were twenty-five present, guess beingt there form Lansing, Howell and Birmingham. At noon all did ample justic to the fine dinner served on the lawn.

In the afternoon the following business meeting was held: All, "America;" E. B. Converse, Address of Welcome; A fine letter was then read from Frank Converse; Roll Call; The following officers were elected: Clyde Converse, President; Fred L. Converse, Vice President; Ione Converse, Secretary and Treasurer; E. B. Converse, Lewis Randall & Devillo Sabin, Program Committee; Leone Converse, Feed Committee. All sang "God Be With You."

The afternoon was spent in renewing old acquaintance and after a lunch of ice cream and cake, wel left for our homes to meet next year with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Converse, 215 Bingham Street, Lansing, Michigan.

1925 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1925 Converse Family Reunion (14th Annual) was held on 19 August 1925 at Lansing, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

On Wednesday, August 19, 1925, about 65 memebers of the Converse family met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Converse for their 14th annual reunion. After dinner, visiting, a prgram and business was in order. A company of boys from the Industrial School entertained with songs and speeches. The result of the business meeting was Marion Converse, President; Fraancis STow, Secretary Treasurer. The place of the 1926 meeting to be decided later.

1926 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1926 Converse Family Reunion (15th Annual) was held on 18 August 1926 at Ella Sharpe Park, Jackson, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

An appended newspaper clipping read as follows:

CONVERSE REUNION ---The fourteenth [sic] annual reunion of the Converse family was held at Ella Sharpe Park, Jackson, Wednesday, August 18, with 70 of its members present. Guests began to arrive early in the day from Midland, Alma, Shepard and Hillsdale. After dinner picutures of the group were taken, then sports and stunts were ejoyed by the tiny tots, grownups and grandmothers. Many new acquaintances were made and old ones renewed. At 5:30 p.m. ice cream an cake was served and the company adjourned to meet at Shepard with Mr. and Mrs. Will Piatt the third Wednesday in August, 1927.


The secretary appended the following notes: The Pres. called the meeting to order; the secretary read the minutes of the last meeting; roll was called -- 21 families were represented. It was moved and seconded that we accept the invitaiton tl meet with Mr. and Mrs. Will Piatt the 3rd Wednesday in August, 1927, with pot luck dinner. Will Piattt was elected Pres, Frances Stow Sect'y Treas.

The secretary added the following note: Death of Mrs.. Will Piatt May 15, 1927..1

     The 1927 Converse Family Reunion (16th Annual) was held on 17 August 1927 at Fowlerville, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

From a newspaper clipping titled "Converse Reunion:"

Fifteenth [sic] annual reunion of the Converse family was held Wednesday at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Lew Hart at Fowlerville. Members were present from Shepherd, North Bradley, Lansing, Haslett, Howell, Pittsford, Hillsdale, An Arbor, Jackson, Webberville and Fairhope, Ala. Following potluck dinner, a business meeting was held and officers wer elected as follows: George Stowe, president; Marion Converse, vice president; and Mrs. Fred L. Converse, secretary and treasurer. Next year's reunion will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Converse.

The secretary appended the following notes: Converse reunion Wed. Aug 17,'27. Sixty two present. Inthe business meeting we were invited to meeet with the Hillsdale Converses at Ella Sharpe Park the first Thurs in Aug.

1928 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1928 Converse Family Reunion (17th Annual) was held on 15 August 1928 at Georgetown, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

The seventeenth annual reunion of the Converse family was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Converse, Georgetown, Michigan, Aug 15, 1928, finding sixty members present from North Bradley, Pontiac, Lansing, Jackson, Williamston and Fowerville.

At noon all did justice to the bountiful dinner after which the company was called to order by Vice President, Marion Converse.

[The program was as follows:] Song, "Blest be the tie that binds;" Scripture reading by Emma Duncan, with all repeating the Lord's Prayer; Roll Call and a letter read from Frank Converse of Beloit, Wisconsin; Minutes of last meeting were read by the Secretary; Moved and supported that we send a copy of resolutions to Cousin Luella Monroe, committee for same Francis, Leone and Hattie; moved and supported that each family give 25 cents to be used for flowers when needed, flower committee, Hattie & Ilah.

The following officers were elected for the coming year: Bill Smith, President; Devillo Sabin, Vice President; Hattie Converse, Secretary and Treasurer.


Money on hand from last meeting $3.36 plus collection $9.50 giving a total of $12.86. Expenses $9.50, leaving a balance of $3.36. Collection for flowers $4.75.

Adjourned to meet with Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan the third Wednesday in Aug, 1929.

1929 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1929 Converse Family Reunion (18th Annual) was held on 21 August 1929 at at Conway, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

The eighteenteeth annual reunion of the Converse family was held with Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan of Conway, August 21, 1929, with fifty three members present. After a fine pot-luck dinner they were called to roder by the vice president, Devillo Sabin and a short business meeting was held.

[The program was as follows:] Song, "Blest be the tie;" Prayer by Arthur Cradit; Roll Call and minutes of the last meeting read by secretarty akso a card from Leslie Babcock; moved and supported that it be left to the hostess to buy what table cloth she needs and present bill; moved and supported that the secretary have 200 cards printed to send to the different families.

The following officers were elected: Clyde Converse, president; Fred L. Converse, vice president; Fern Shaw, secretary & treasurer.

Money on hand from last meeting $3.36 plus collection of $8.00 for a total of $11.36. Expensses were $9.07, leaving a balance of $2.29.

We adjourned to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Converee Aukg. 1930.

1930 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1930 Converse Family Reunion (19th Annual) was held on 20 August 1930 at Lansing, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows:

The nineteenth reunion of the Converse familly was held with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Converse of Lansing, Aug. 20, 1930, with sixty-five present. A fine pot-luick dinnder was served at noon.

The business meeting was called to order by the Vise President, Fred L. Converse, [followed by] a prayer by Arthur Cradit. Song, "Blest be the Tie." Roll call and the minutes of hte last meeting was read by the Secretary, also a letter from fRank Converse of BEloit, Wis.

The followign officers were elected: Luella Monroe, President; Dalton Foster, Vice President; Nellie Foster, Secretary=Treasurer.

Money on hand from last meeting $2.30 plus collection $11.00 for a total of $13.30. Expenses were $11.55, leaving a balance on hand of $1.75.

We were invited to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Boardway of Fowlerville, Aug. 1931. Meeting close with singing "God Be With You Till we meet again."

1931 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1931 Converse Family Reunion (29th Annual) was held on 19 August 1931 at Fowlerville, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows: The 20th annual reunion of the Converse family was held at the pleasant farm home of Mr. and Mrs Fred L. Converse at Fowlerville, on Akug 19, 1931 with 73 members present from Fowlerville, Ovid, Owosso, Lansing, Williamston, Hillsdale, Pontiac, Howell, Jackson and alma. A bounteous pot luck dinner was served at noon.

After dinner the meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Luella Monroe. Prayer was led by Dalton Foster. Minutes of the last meeting were read and aproved.

Treasurer's report was read as follows: Cash in the General Fund, $1.75, plus interest for a total of $1.91. Cash in the flower fund $4.75 giving a total on hand of $6.66. Collection for 1931, $11.00, making a total cash on hand of $17.66. Bill presented for general expenses, $7.97, for flowers, $3.00, leaving a balance in the treasury of $6.69.

Election of officers was held as follows: Davillo Sabin, Fowlerville, President; Hugh Dibble, Ovid, Vice President; Mrs. Rollin Boardway, Fowlerville, Sectetary-Treasurer.

The oldest members present were Mrs. Jas. Converse, of Fowlerville, age 87, and Mrs. Geo. Converse of Fowlerville, age 82. The youngest members present were Natalie Boardway, age 1 year, 8 months, daukghter of Mr. and Mrs Rollin Boardway of Fowerlville, and Robert Lee Foster, age 2 years, 8 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Foster of Alma. There was one death reported during the year, namely, Delores Smith, age 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith of Fowlerville; and one birth, namely Patricia Thomas, daughte rof Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomas of Lansing, Michigan.

The meeting adjourned to meet in 1931 with Mr. and Mrs Ben Converse of Owosso, Michigan.

1932 Converse Family Reunion

     The 1932 Converse Family Reunion (21st Annual) was held on 17 August 1932 at Bently Park, Owosso, Michigan. The Secretary's Report for this reunion read as follows: The 21st annual reunion of the Converse family was held at Bently Park, Owosso, with Mr. and Mrs. BenConverse acting as host and hostess, on Aug. 17, 1932. There were members present for Chicago, Lansing, Jackson, Pontiac, Williamston, Owosso, Webberville, Coruna and Fowlerville.

At noon all did ample justice to a potluck dinner, after which the meeting was called to order by Fred A. Converse, actin as preident. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved, which was followed by the roll call. Greetings wwere the read from Frank Converse, Lou Randall and Vivian Perkins. Officers elected were Ellen Sabin, president, Clyde Converse, vice president and Gay Boardway, secretary-treasurer.

There wer three marriage reported within the last year, namely Perry Converse and Winnie Leadley, Uella Monroe and R. C. Reed, anna Converse and Luther Eagle. There were also four births reported, namely Marilynn Elaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Converse of Lansing, Frank Arden Thomas Jr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomas of Lansing, Geo. Walter Monroe, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Monroe of Howell, and Forest Frederick Eagle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Eagle of Ann Arbor. One death was reported, that of Geo. Walter Monroe.

It was moved and supoorted that the following bill be paid and was carried: 3 gal Ice cream @.75, $2.25; sugar $0.72, Lemons $0.90, oranges $0.19, coffee $0.54, milk and cream $0.60, Ice for lemonade $0.50, total $5.70. Balance carried forward from last year ($1.75 flower fund, $4.94 general fund) $6.69. Interest $0.26, collection for 1931 $4.00, for a total of $10.95. Less this years expenses of $5.70, leaving a balnce of $5.75.

The president then apointed Ellen Sabin Adn Mildred Converse on refreshment committee for 1933.

We were extended a cordial invitation to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Devillo Sabin on the second Sednesday in July, instead of the thrid Wednesday in Aug. as hertofore. The meeting then closed by all repeating the Lord's Prayer and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in visiting and at five o'clock ice cream and cake were served, after which all departed for their homes feeling htat the day had been well spent. Ben Converse turned in $0.30 from supplies left over, total balance $5.55.

2003 Converse Family Reunion

     The 2003 Converse Family Reunion was held by the descendants of Clyde and Leona Converse. This group meets each summer and continues the family tradition in which Clyde himself took part as a child.

    b. 19 Dec 1890, d. 04 Jul 1955

         Floyd G. Wynant was born on 19 December 1890 at Oregon.2 He married Ruby Vene Converse, daughter of Herbert Lee Converse and Orissa Belle Walter, on 19 September 1914 at Coos County, Oregon.3 [PG1] was listed as head of household on the census of 1930 , Tennant Township, Siskiyou County, California, as Floyd G. Wynant. Listed with Floyd G. Wynant were Ruby Vene Converse, Herbert Wynant, Mary Wynant, Arthur Wynant, Donald Wynant and Lawrence Wynant.1 He died on 4 July 1955 at Lassen County, California, at age 64.2
