Eye of the Beholder and One Last Dive

I've been making polymer clay covered switchplates for a couple of years now. One way I approach it is to make a fairly simple background with some nightglow in it, bake that, then stare at it for a while and draw what I see. Sometimes even I'm surprised at what I see. I gave up reading H.P. Lovecraft and other horror novels over 20 years ago, because they give me nightmares. I didn't anticipate flashbacks! All my switchplates glow in the dark.

The Spell of the Cave God

Made by the same technique but in a very different mood from the Lovecraft plates. The frame-like plate is for a Decora style switch. Only the lightest areas of these plates glow.

Maiden Flight

Various creatures find their way onto my bas relief style switch plates at times; some real and some imagined. The maiden takes off in the purple twilight much to the surprise of her cat. The deep purple sky brightens considerably at night but the moon is the brighter draw for this creature learning the art of transformation.

I hope you will have the chance to see some of my work in person at one of the shows listed in "Where's Halla?" on my Home World Page.
