Congratulations to Chris & Soraya McKinney, who gave birth to a son this past weekend! Chris sent the following note: “Palmer Lake McKinney was born Saturday morning around two thirty. Soraya is now at home and doing fine. The baby will have to stay at the hospital in intensive care until Saturday; he has a spot of pneumonia and will be treated with antibiotics all week. He is eating good, which is a good sign. He was a little on the small side--his birth weight was 5 lbs. 11 oz. and he now weighs approximately 5 lbs. 5 oz.” 4/3/09 Mrs. Jeanette Jones, aunt of

1/8/09 Dr. James Swisher, our HHS principal
during freshman and sophomore years, passed away on New Year's Day at the age of 69. Read his obituary by clicking on
the thumbnail at left. The scarcity of yearbook photos of him confirms that he preferred to work behind the scenes, but
his direction molded Heritage High School from the very beginning--more so than we knew at the time.
Heritage High School's first principal remembered as a leader 12/3/08 See Wyatt Gunter

12/1/08 Alexia Pittas'
husband was killed in a traffic accident last week while she was visiting Lynchburg for the Thanksgiving holiday. She has
shared some very touching tributes to him on her Facebook page.
UPDATE 7/7/08: Do you remember our cap & gown group photo? We must have lined up in the gym and walked outside in single-file, because we're in alphabetical order from right to left! Click on it for a larger view. UPDATE 4/2/08: Spring is in the air at our alma mater! Click on these thumbnails for larger photos of the school taken on March 30. It must have taken a massive amount of fill dirt to transform our old student parking lot into a football & soccer field. The new student lot is at the front corner of the school, where the marching band used to practice. |
