Release History:

v2.0.7 - 06/28/08

  • The radar images are now being retrieved correctly when new locations are added. This was broken after TWC made changes to their web site.
  • The app no longer crashes when deleting a location in the situation where you have more than 2 locations and you delete the last location in the list.

v2.0.6 - 05/18/08

  • Modified the URL passed to TWC to include the '&link=xoap' parameter.
  • Recompiled for PhotoBridge version 2.0.36.

v2.0.5 - 05/25/05

  • Modified the code which fetches the radar images to now use the CascadeHTTPClient class which eliminates the need to save the downloaded image before it is displayed.
  • Recompiled for PhotoBridge version 2.0.28.

v2.0.4 - 04/24/05

  • Recompiled for PhotoBridge version 2.0.16.

v2.0.3 - 04/08/05

  • Radar images will now display for all newly added locations. This was caused by a change in the Weather Channel's HTML pages which are parsed to extract the URL for each location's radar image.
  • Corrected code which now allows the radar images to be correctly displayed in all resolution settings of the PhotoBridge.

v2.0.2 - 01/03/05

  • Corrected a problem when the application is set up to run as a screen saver. It will no longer wake up the PhotoBridge when it cycles to the next location but will allow the PhotoBridge to remain 'sleeping' as it automatically cycles to each defined location.

v2.0.1 - 01/01/05

  • Modified the code to allow the application to run under the latest PhotoBridge operating system version (2.0.9).
  • Added an error message in the event of a communications failure.
  • Added an error message when the main background image could not be found. This can happen if the zip file containing the application and all of the image files is not unzipped with the 'Use folder names' option checked.
  • Ability to edit the "Data Cache Interval". This is the amount of time that the application will wait before refetching the same location's text data the next time that it is selected.
  • Ability to edit the "Radar Refresh Interval". If you leave a radar image for a location on your screen, the image will be refetched when this interval period has expired.
  • Ability to edit the "Screen Saver Refresh Interval". If you have the next option selected, "Auto Cycle Between Locations" or you are running the application as a screen saver, then the period in which the locations will automatically change is determined by this interval period.
  • Ability to edit the "Auto Cycle Between Locations". This option causes the application to automatically advance to the next location after the previously defined interval period expires.
(These last 4 features are accessed by first pressing the 'INFO' button and then the 'DOWN' or 'UP' buttons.)

v1.0.3 - 08/01/04

  • Simulated zooming of the radar image can now be performed by pressing the 'ZOOM IN' and 'ZOOM OUT' buttons when viewing the radar screen.
  • If you have multiple locations defined, you can now jump to a specific location by pressing the 'FAST FORWARD' button and then choose a location from the list.
  • Added ability to run in screen saver mode (command line parameter '-saver')
  • The current conditions and forecasted weather data for each location is now cached for 5 minutes to reduce network traffic.
  • Added the sunrise and sunset times to the current conditions section.

v1.0.2 - 06/23/04

  • Force the screen to refresh after editing locations.
  • Minor modification to the activity indicator on the "Please Wait" window.
  • If the application is displaying a radar image when the screen saver activates, you will no longer get an error message when the PhotoBridge wakes back up as the user presses a button on the remote.
  • Corrected an error which could cause the application to crash after deleting and then adding a location.

v1.0.1 - 06/14/04

  • An activity indicator was added to the "Please Wait" window to alert the user that some background processing is occurring. This looks like a progress bar but it doesn't actually indicate percent complete. It is simply used to give the user something to look at while waiting.
  • Corrected the display of the current day's forecast. It will now correctly show the overnight forecast starting in the late afternoon. In the morning it will show the day's forecasted condition as well as both the forecasted high and low temperatures for the day.
  • Added a refresh timer, initially set to 10 minutes, which will refresh the currently displayed radar image. This will be configurable in a later release. When the image is automatically refreshed this way, the screen saver will be fooled into thinking that there is some screen activity before the screen is refreshed so that the updated image can be displayed.
  • Resized the 'WeatherSix.roku' icon to the correct dimensions so that it will be displayed on the main Roku screen.
  • The background on the radar image screen is now formed using a much smaller tiled image. This was done to try to free up more available memory.
  • Updated the web site's 'Setup' page to add information on the creation of a swap file. Also added a 'Links' page.

v1.0.0 - 06/02/04

  • Locations can now be added using an onscreen keyboard displayed when you press the MENU button.
  • Retrieves and displays weather radar or satellite imagery (Locations outside the U.S.) when you press the ROTATE button.
  • Supports up to 10 different configurable locations.

v0.9.2a - 04/28/04 **** ALPHA RELEASE **** Not fully functional yet

  • Added initial support for displaying radar JPG images when you press the ROTATE button.
  • Added initial support for an onscreen keyboard for setting up the locations, displayed when you press the MENU button.
  • A popup window for selecting the display format is now shown when the INFO button is pressed.
  • When the SELECT button is pressed to refresh the data, a "Please Wait" window is momentarily displayed.
  • A "Worker Thread" is created and used during the fetching of the data so that the main thread can update the display as needed.
  • Initial support for multiple locations has begun.
  • A character indicating the rising, falling or steady state of the barometric pressure is now displayed.
  • Reduced the size of the fonts to prevent overlapping text descriptions.

v0.9.1 - 04/13/04

  • Added the ability to switch the format of the display between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing the INFO button on the remote. This format option is retained in the settings file so that it can be retrieved the next time that the application is run.
  • Added the ability to refresh the data by pressing the SELECT button on the remote. This may not appear to do anything as the Weather Channel only updates their data about every half hour or so.
  • Added the current day's forecasted high and low temperatures as well as the daytime condition text.
  • Moved all of the images to an 'images' directory to keep them separate from the application files.
  • Edited the background image to remove the logo, title and window frame from the base image. This allows the user to replace the 'Background_00.png' (zero, zero) with their own image and the application will "paint" over that image with the logo, title and window frame as well as all of the data.

v0.9.0 - 04/09/04

  • Initial release.
